Kothophed, Soul Hoarder Discussion

ScrOuch on Meren's Grave Shenanigans

Cool Deck, I love graveyard interactions! I own one myself (with a different commander and a different color combination though) and it's always an absolute blast to play with it!

I also took a look over the suggestions the other users gave you which seem to have brought the deck in good shape already! However, there were also some suggestions which didn't make it in your deck 'til now but which I would consider absolutely awesome, so I will mention them again. Just so you know.

Those cards are Blood Artist, Greater Good, Dictate of Erebos and Grave Pact. Each one of them are working absolutely great in here! Dictate and Pact control your opponents board state, Blood artist works perfectly with your commander and Good is an awesome draw AND sac engine. It really is everything you want!

Greater Good is also a good transition to my next point. For combo it's important to get the cards you need and I already see that you play a ton of good tutors which is good but I still miss some draw engines to make your deck even more consistent. Right now your draw engines are Yavimaya Elder, Smothering Abomination, Grim Haruspex, Skullclamp and Solemn Simulacrum which make a total of 5 cards but I would greatly recommend to play at least 8 cards of that category (10 would be even better to achieve your goals). Cards that do exactly that AND fit to your commander are Phyrexian Arena, Harvester of Souls, Necropotence, Bloodgift Demon, Dark Prophecy and Kothophed, Soul Hoarder. Since some of them also cost life I'd recommend Disciple of Griselbrand which grants some lifegain and is also a sac engine. Aand last but not least, Attrition is also a very nice addition to your deck!

Cards you could consider to cut are:

Avenger of Zendikar: It's super powerful but doesn't really synergize with what you wanna do and it has quite high cmc.

Dread Return: I feel you have more than enough recursion, especially since your commander herself does the same. I even think you could cut 2-3 more cards of that category.

Elves of Deep Shadow: Since you only play two colors that mana ability isn't worth the damage. Rather play any other one mana elf dork.

Eliminate the Competition: I'd cut that card for Attrition.

Grisly Salvage: I understand what you wanna do with that card but I'd greatly prefer Greater Good over this one.

Well, I hope I could help you with this! Keep up the good work. Did I mention I love graveyard interactions?

First off, I love this deck! Demons are a fun tribe (however they barely don't make my top five).

My one suggestion is to drop Warn Powerstone for something like Gauntlet of Power, Nirkana Revenant, or Extraplanar Lens. The reason you might want to drop Warn is it is slow. It comes out tapped which sets you back one turn. The three listed cards help you double your mana and with such a high CMC, you'll need it.

Another suggestion is to take out Tendrils of Corruption for it's better counterpart, Corrupt. Being able to hit someone for a lot of damage can be a game ender. Corruption also hits creatures.

A demon I'm shocked to see missing is Harvester of Souls. With all your creature removal, I thought you'd run him. Kothophed, Soul Hoarder is also good card draw, but is a bit risky.

Was looking at your deck some more, and I have a few more ideas, like upping your demon count and a few reanimation spells liiiiike.....

Desecration Demon, Grave Titan, Kothophed, Soul Hoarder, Reiver Demon, Bloodgift Demon, Rune-Scarred Demon, Reaper from the Abyss, Overseer of the Damned

stuff like that...then you could put in reanimation spells like

Animate Dead, Reanimate, Ever After, Whip of Erebos, Sheoldred, Whispering One

stuff like that...you could throw in Cathartic Reunion, Faithless Looting, Tormenting Voice for card draw/discard

Maybe a zombie sub theme and add in Shepherd of Rot

Fun things like Tree of Perdition, Quietus Spike, Rage Reflection, Ward of Bones, Havoc Festival

If anything definitely add Anger to your deck

or just throw in 30 Shadowborn Apostle haha

If I repeated any cards already in your deck, I apologize. Either was happy building and kick some ace!!

DemonDragonJ on Core Set Legendary Creatures By ...

Since I have already created threads that list commanders and planeswalkers by home plane, I shall now create a thread that lists legendary creatures who have appeared in core sets by home plane.

As with my previous lists, I shall first list the planes known to be home to at least one legendary creature who has appeared in a core set alphabetically by name, and then list each legendary creature from that plane who has appeared in a core set alphabetically by name. If that creature is from a specific region of that plane or is a member of a specific faction on that plane, I shall list that region or faction in parenthesis after their name.

What does everyone think of this list? Is it sufficiently informative? Have I improperly labeled any creatures? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Alright... Lessee what I advice I can give, here...

First off, 44 lands may be a bit overkill. I'd recommend you consider putting the signets back in, as well as Darksteel Ingot, if you still have 'em. The Ravnica bounce lands are deceptively good, as well. They may return a land you control to your hand, but you can just bounce a tapped on after using it. That second mana they produce can be quite useful in the long run.

Dolmen Gate is an interesting card I've never seen in a Kaalia deck before. O.o I like it! Might consider getting one, myself, lol.

I'd recommend a few cheaper critters like Baneslayer Angel and Thundermaw Hellkite. Mainboarding your Blinding Angel and Kothophed, Soul Hoarder would also be advisable. There's also Harvester of Souls to consider, and I find it odd that you took out Angel of Despair. O.o

Rise of the Dark Realms and In Garruk's Wake are interesting, but seem... unnecessary. Same goes for Warstorm Surge.

Finally, Decree of Pain seems like it'd be useful, as well--particularly as a replacement for Wake.

For further inspiration, my deck's right here: Hardcore Kaalia.

Hope that helps! :)

one of my friends got the ultimate off on the flip lili before anyone could get anything out to deal with it. he was talking trash saying "you might as well concede now". he held that attitude for a while, untill he started loosing to and eventually lost to demon tribal. i find it ironic that the Kothophed, Soul Hoarder he stole from me ended up being his downfall. i guess demons will always control Liliana lol.

Wow, that was absolutely badass! I can't wait for next one, I hope my dear Lili doesn't come to harm. I'm excited to see Razaketh's card. I hope it will be more Griselbrand level than Kothophed, Soul Hoarder even though I like them both.

This has inspired me to pull out the last book in the Ravnica Cycle, dust it off and finish reading it.
