Darigaaz's Mind Eruption

Commander / EDH BRG (Jund) Budget

NinjaFist

Maybeboard

This deck is somewhat a homage to the first Commander deck that I played, the C13 Nekusar deck. But since then, Nekusar has become rather popular and overdone. It doesn't take much to kill with him, just force people to draw and they slowly die (until you play Windfall on a stick, Jace's Archivist), which, admittedly, was fun to watch people squirm like that. But I longed for a challenge. I thought it would be more difficult to kill someone for punishing them for having a massive hand, rather than doing something as arbitrary as drawing a card. Picking up a copy of Darigaaz helped me go in that direction, as well as adding to the challenge by eliminating blue from the equation.

This deck is what I came up with. It's rather casual and can get wrecked very easily by a single Void Winnower, but once it gets going, it's an absolute blast to play. The main idea of the deck is to obviously force people to draw cards then smack them in the face with Sudden Impact-like effects, or just Darigaaz himself. Interesting ways I've found to 'encourage' people to fill their hand is through Heartwood Storyteller, play Endless Whispers coupled with Lethal Vapors to give opponents the Pilgrim's Eye and Borderland Ranger ETB effects, or even Weird Harvest. Speaking of the Endless Vapors combo, it's the main backbone of the secondary part of this deck, as paired with Vicious Shadows, it can kill opponents very quickly. Other pairings with this combo is to give someone a Grim Haruspex or Eidolon of Blossoms with a bunch of other creatures, forcing them to draw more, giving them a Dark Prophecy or Elemental Bond through Confusion in the Ranks to the same effect, or running Fecundity on the board (even though this is a may effect). Finally, the last ditch effort of the deck is to punish opponents with a lot of creatures on the board with Rakdos Charm, Incite Rebellion, and Netherborn Phalanx, for which the hunted creatures help to accomplish this (they also give more creatures to draw with Dark Prophesy).

As always, I am open to suggestions (this deck could probably use a little more control, needs to probably be played more to see what doesn't work too well), and I thank you for the view!
