Seed the Land Discussion

seshiro_of_the_orochi on My snake deck (that title took me two weeks...)

Ninokun: that would totally suffice if the blue was only meant to cast kaseto. Activating his ability multiple times in one turn is pretty colour intensive though, so it doesn't work that way. Thanks for the nice idea though.

Chasmolinker: hapatra is a powerful card, but she wants a totally different deck. It could be done. I envision something among the lines of hapatra herself, Seed the Land , Noose Constrictor , Sosuke's Summons and Archfiend of Ifnir . Seems pretty interesting btw...regarding Metallic Mimic : I totally see the upsite of cards like this, but I don't usually like to include them in my tribal decks, and they aren't actual members of the tribe.

A few more cards that might work for this deck. Druid's Call , Greener Pastures , Primal Vigor , Seed the Land .

Thank you for the feedback!

I will admit I’m having trouble picking a theme for the deck. I tend towards enchantments primarily because that’s what I play in legacy so it’s a familiar strategy. That said I haven’t settled on that strategy and if I do I’d certainly include the enchantress’s and whatnot. Regardless of this I can’t deny the synergy with constellation, which is the main reason for including as many enchantments as I did.

On Reverent Silence yes it hurts me a lot. Another reason I’m shying away from the enchantress strategy, regardless it wipes out all of my opponents snake tokens I give them as well as helps with the false cure kill. That being said I have pernicious deed and plague boiler to wipe the snakes and I realize false cure’s inconsistency so I can understand cutting this, but I think I would need more convincing as I’d really like to make false cure work.

Spidersilk Armor is a great suggestion and I will definitely add that in

I understand Cabal Stronghold . Urborg still works with basic land types other than swamps as they still have the basic super type. Having 26 basics I think it’s safe to use it but I could certainly be wrong.

I agree that I really need to focus the deck. I had a couple of ideas I’ll elaborate on but most suffer from Pharika being the commander as there are certainly better options for each strategy. Most of the cards are picked for the apothecary theme or to tie it together.

The Mending of Dominaria was chosen simply because it has mending in the name. World Shaper was added to supplement it. Along with Seed the Land and Squandered Resources . Squandered resources I felt kind of tied into the theme as well as helped to do more instant speed exiling. Definitely need more ways to abuse it if that’s what I focus the deck on though and then The Gitrog Monster is almost certainly a better commander.

Enchantments I think has already been elaborated on. She makes the snakes and is about the only form of synergy I could find with her.

Reanimation. This strategy gets kinda cheesy which is why I didn’t include the usual suspects such as chainer and his targets. But I can’t deny it’s strong. So I included a decent amount of to-hand recursion to make up for it. Regardless this theme is a nonbo with the commander. So I’m probably not going to focus on this strategy too hard.

I know Bereavement affects me but my thinking is that I generally won’t care about my stuff being in the yard, especially assuming I go the reanimation route. I think I could have the opportunity to manipulate this to get my opponents into topdeck mode though and win from there. (Not a lot of draw engines are ran, been trying to get them to use wheels as my most common group members use R/W)

Ya, Soratami Savant is cool.

I'm still very much in doubt of what to cut. Maybe Seed the Land, Windrider Eel and Sporemound.. but that's not enough.

You can get infinite landfall with Retreat to Coralhelm + Skyshroud Ranger + Simic Growth Chamber gives you infinite landfall.

I remember trying to use Perilous Forays and Seed the Land to pull all the land out of my deck.

Catpocolypse on Ultimate Power - Turn Two Genesis Wave Combo

Genesis Wave is a nasty card, my friend has a Genesis Wave deck that goes off turn 3 and there is nothing you can do to stop it. All you can do is hope that he gets a bad draw or misses an Eternal Witness with his Genesis Wave. Anyway, You play what you think feels right. I've gone though many an hour, testing that deck and reforming it into what it is today. You might very well have a different style of playing this deck, like more agressive with Primeval Titan or more Pillowforty with Heroic Intervention. Whatever fits your playstyle and playgroup's meta. As you probably saw in my deck, my Maybeboard is for others who have made Spawnsire of Ulamog decks. If you need a little bit of an extra board state, I recommend Seed the Land or Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger. Seed the Land can give you several cheap blockers a turn and Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger is similar to Omnath, Locus of Mana in which he adds a large board presence along with a mana ramp theme. I'd keep these in mind if your playgroup takes advantage of you (sometimes) have only Joraga Treespeaker and Arbor Elfs and the odd Omnath, Locus of Mana or Primeval Titan.

I tried this with Natural Affinity and Sylvan Advocate a while back. The haste on Sylvan Awakening makes it a lot better. A beatdown plan isn't off the table. You actually reminded me to look back over the decklists.

Earth Surge/Elemental Uprising/Genju of the Cedars/Early Harvest are all there, and can have an impact, depending on what else you are jamming and what the plan is.

Perilous Forays/Seed the Land can give you quite a lot of range.
