Gaze of Adamaro Discussion

Nice idea, let those blue draw decks suffer ;)

Sign in Blood seems to be a perfect fit for that deck, you can target your opponent or dig for your combo pieces.

Burning Inquiry wouldn't be bad either to make your opponent draw.

Toil / Trouble, Runeflare Trap, Sudden Impact and Gaze of Adamaro could speed up the burn.

Other worthy mentions could be:Wheel of Fate, Collective Defiance, Molten Psyche (super sweet if you happen to have 3 artifacts on the board), Incendiary Command, Reforge the Soul, or even Barbed Shocker.

n0bunga: Thanks for the ideas. I suppose I could cut Gaze of Adamaro, but Star of Extinction is just too awesome with Repercussion... I wanna keep it for now.

Fight with Fire is interesting... I missed it when the set was spoiled, so I'll certainly give it some thought now.

Can you think of anything else? Right now I just cut a Snow-Covered Mountain to make room for Jaya Ballard.

Now, I'm not opposed to number 3 being a red/blue land, if you're going to include Gaze of Adamaro, Ebony Owl Netsuke and Eye of Nowhere type effects in your set (it's happened before).

You could also make the cycle have the different color lands have different abilities.

Seizan, Perverter of Truth is a really nice addition to Nekusar EDH, since he burns, and allows Nekusar to burn your opponents some more.

Bloodchief Ascension synergizes well with Mindcrank, so there's that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can tell, I can only see two wheels in this deck (Time Reversal and Whispering Madness). In my opinion, you cannot have a Nekusar EDH without a decent number of wheels. I would suggest Wheel of Fate, Reforge the Soul, Molten Psyche, Windfall, Winds of Change, and Magus of the Wheel.

You also can try out Price of Knowledge and Dark Suspicions. You also can consider Gaze of Adamaro, Sudden Impact, Runeflare Trap, and Stormbreath Dragon.

Thanks so much for the input, both of you! I'm down for either direction with the deck. dotytron, I think mattman856 was trying to go more heavily leaning towards making them have a larger hand size and killing them with cards like Ebony Owl Netsuke, Gaze of Adamaro, Sword of War and Peace, etc. Currently, both work well together in the deck. However, dotytron, I think was more correct in the original theme and it not leaving. The other kind of evolved from the first, if that makes sense.

dotytron, Toil / Trouble was actually in the original standard version of the deck. Decided to take it out because of speed. I'd love to see it come back if there's room for it. Cerebral Vortex I've been having a hard time thinking of where to slot it. I just recently learned of it myself. Removing Damnable Pact is definitely an option (theoretically the same slot). I guess I don't see how it best fits. Where were you thinking. Also, I've never actually heard of Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind until you posted it. Do you think it's too big though for Modern? I'm interested to see what you'd take out and slot in, in general.

mattman856, the Tezzeret the Schemer were really added as replacements to Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas (who I wont lie, I have a soft spot for). But to be honest, it hasn't faired well. I thought it'd be a good addition alongside making Fatal Push a little bit better when I needed it. Disciple of Deceit + Smuggler's Copter works great when it happens. The Kederekt Parasite also offers another early crew member for the vehicles. If it's speed the deck is worried about, it provides something there. I'm all for putting Fate Unraveler back into the board.

Tezzeret the Schemer can definitely come out. He's been meh.

Chains of Mephistopheles is a not-so-budget card I run in my Nekusar deck.

I also would throw in more wheel effects like Wheel of Fortune, Wheel of Fate, Magus of the Wheel, Jace's Archivist, Dark Deal, Runehorn Hellkite, Reforge the Soul, Whirlpool Warrior, Chandra Ablaze, Wheel and Deal, Incendiary Command, etc.

Time Spiral and Timetwister are also nice, if you wish to invest more in this deck.

For more damage, you can also try out Gaze of Adamaro, Sudden Impact, and Runeflare Trap

Alongside Spiteful Visions, there's also Phyrexian Tyranny, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, Psychosis Crawler, Price of Knowledge, Ebony Owl Netsuke, Viseling (in multiplayer, Black Vise for two-way), Iron Maiden, and Fevered Visions.

Some more forced draw you can put in include, but is not limited to: Dictate of Kruphix, Seizan, Perverter of Truth, Forced Fruition (especially fun in Nekusar EDH), Kami of the Crescent Moon, Master of the Feast, Nin, the Pain Artist, Jace Beleren, Dack Fayden, Ob Nixilis Reignited, Well of Ideas, Font of Mythos, Howling Mine, Temple Bell, etc.

Well, I hope that this wall of text I just typed helped to some extent, and good luck with the deck.

In mono red, you might have to think a bit more than just countering blue spells. They are going to be wheeling most likely to get that full hand and leave everyone besides them with a single card. So why not try to use that to your advantage.

Gaze of Adamaro, Runeflare Trap Or Sudden Impact maybe? Hell, you could even make tibalt work as silly as that sounds. You are going to be losing the cards anyways.

Just a thought but personally I would think black would punish them more effectively. Like Underworld Dreams

Shah of Naar Isle downside actually combos well with your commander, and it's a fairly sizable creature at that.

Psychosis Crawler allows you to take advantage of all the massive amounts of cards you're drawing through every turn.

Font of Mythos is the bigger Howling Mine; goes right along with your commander's theme.

Gaze of Adamaro can be considered to be a finisher of sorts, or to just deal a ton of face damage.

I think you're running enough artifacts to be able to take full advantage of Molten Psyche, which can result in even more damage than Gaze.
