I've had the itch to build a new deck in the last couple weeks, but none of the paths I started down led to something I actually wanted to build. Yesterday, I saw a tweet from @CommanderReplay about trying to live the dream on Gideon's Sacrifice and I immediately thought of another pet card I've been trying to find the right home for: Brash Taunter.

This deck draws no small measure of inspiration and card choices from Sheldon Menery's (in)famous You Did This To Yourself Ruhan of the Fomori deck, as explained in Episode 18 of CMD Tower's Brews and Builds, but takes it in a Mardu direction with Snapdax, Apex of the Hunt supported by his good gobbo friends Vial Smasher the Fierce and Brash Taunter, and a big finisher in Insurrection. For the most part, this deck wants to sit back and use blocking to punish opponents.

Some achievements to unlock:

1. Using Gideon's Sacrifice on Brash Taunter to take out an opponent (While any "Slapback" Creature would work, this is the specific combination that inspired the deck)

2. Pyromancer's Goggles + Star of Extinction + Slapback Creature + Indestructible

3. Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose + Cubwarden mutated onto Slapback Creature + Blasphemous Act

4. BYO Assymetrical Board Wipe: Basilisk Collar + Boros Reckoner OR Spitemare + Indestructible + Pyrohemia OR Pestilence

5. Ping Machine Gun: Porcuparrot mutated onto Famished Paladin with Lifelink (e.g., Whip of Erebos or Basilisk Collar)

This initial build feels a little creature-light, so that is something I will evaluate through playtesting. I'm also considering a damage multiplier package with cards like Torbran, Thane of Red Fell, Fiery Emancipation, Dictate of the Twin Gods or Obosh, the Preypiercer. The two Enchantments probably make more sense than the creatures in that case, though.

This seems a bit like a glorious mess at the moment, but I'm hoping it is more glorious and less mess! At the very least it is hilarious, which is just as good as being good.
