The Smoldering Grave (Bladwing the Risen)

A Bladewing the Risen deck I put together with stuff I had lying around! It actually turned into a cohesive deck, though the mana curve of it scares me just a tad.

I probably need a Dragonlord's Servant and/or Sarkhan's Triumph in here. But those were not at hand so I'll update this when I get them. I might also want to move this deck in a direction where it has more cards like Spiteful Visions that have the potential to kill you. Maybe a small Lich or lich-like card theme, with stuff that really has the potential to screw you over or requires you to take big risks for big reward. After all, the power of a Dracolich shouldn't come cheaply.

Some cards I wanna outline. There's also a small Wheel theme I might wanna increase at some point. These are all great with our Spiteful Visions and also part of the reason I included Stormbreath Dragon in here. Sire Of Insanity was a group slug card that's absolutely insane, since we probably don't care about dumping cards in our graveyard.

There are small Hoarding Dragon and Swift Warkite packages in the deck. Since I had a goal to keep the top end of the curve entirely dragons, I wanna expand the Warkite package into most other creatures in the deck if at all possible. One creature currently that's pretty scary with Warkite is Anathemancer .

Acid-Spewer Dragon , mostly made it in off deathtouch and the megamorph ability. It's mostly just a slot-filler though and will be removed as I tune up the deck a bit.

We mostly are just looking to close out games with our dragon army, but Utvara Hellkite + Scourge of Valkas or Dragon Tempest gives us tons of damage to someone's dome, and as I outlined before, Spiteful Visions is a potential endgame as well.

Strionic Resonator works with so much in the deck, including Bladewing! On a similar note is Conjurer's Closet and Erratic Portal. the Portal means you'll have to recast Bladewing, but it has the advantage of being instant speed, so it can protect your Commander or another creature you control from removal or wipes. Rescue from the Underworld is somewhat similar, and also can get you two creatures for the price of one if one of the targeted creatures is Bladewing.

As I upgrade this deck, I'll be looking at smoothing out the curve a little, increasing the wheel theme, as well as giving the deck more high risk, high reward cards, and streamlining out our dragon army, including adding in some redundancy with things like more tutors!

Chopping Block: Acid-Spewer Dragon , Boltwing Marauder , Decree of Pain, Dualcaster Mage, Hammer of Purphoros , Shivan Harvest (?), Syphon Mind, Thunderbreak Regent

Waiting in the Wings: Avaricious Dragon, Dragonlord's Servant, Magus of the Wheel , Runehorn Hellkite , Sarkhan the Mad, Sarkhan's Triumph , Wheel of Fate, Wheel of Fortune
