Pack's Disdain and Shared Animosity would be fun tribal options. Great deck!

looks pretty sweet and I'm sure it was a blast in standard! Vela is a good choice for the commander since the rats hit hard but are kinda squishy. If you feel you want more card draw you should check out Kindred Discovery, Distant Melody, or Vanquisher's Banner.

Some other cards to consider might be Rite of Replication. When kicked you can copy a rat for a +5 to all your rats or you can even copy vela to deal a quick 20 damage to all your opponents. Metallic Mimic, Pack's Disdain, Cover of Darkness (if you feel like you have a hard time keeping vela out), Return from Extinction, Marrow-Gnawer, Pack Rat, Blade of Selves

For some reason, I thought I read "except by" in there. Nevermind that one about Castigator. Well the deck is really good as it is, but if reducing it makes it better, go for it.

What do you think about Pack's Disdain, Thorntooth Witch, and Shared Animosity?

I always love budget decks and tribal decks. Some cards that might help the tribe out: Return from Extinction for recursion, Roar of the Crowd for burn, and Pack's Disdain for removal. The last two might not be needed since the Allies do a good job at both of those actions, but the recus

This seems pretty solid. I think Talus Paladin could be kind of useful in here. Also, did you consider Pack's Disdain as a removal spell?

it's a shame Mana Echoes is not modern legal

Joraga Warcaller and Shared Animosity for buffs.

Draconic Roar if you are going for direct damage or burn?

Silumgar's Scorn is a modern legal counterspell!

as for removal Coordinated Barrage Pack's Disdain could work but as with the buff spells you need lots of creatures on the battlefield to make them worth it

Sorry for the double-post, but I realized that since you're essentially running a tribal deck, you could take advantage of tribal cards:

Anthem — With so many creatures at your disposal, you shouldn't have much trouble convoking Obelisk of Urd down to a ridiculously small amount of mana for such a large P/T boost. Alternatively, if you don't mind the off-flavor feeling of attaching an equipment to a spirit.... then Stoneforge Masterwork can make one of your tokens huge!

Board wipe Harsh Mercy [NOT modern legal] is a one-sided boardwipe (obviously don't run it if your playgroup tends to enjoy tribal). Yes, they'll get to keep their best creature (though you can just pick it off with Path to Exile), but this card can still really clear the board of chump blockers.

Protection — It's a little slow, but Kindred Boon [NOT modern legal] can turn your spirits into an indestructible army. I'd only run this as a 1-of, though, since it has a higher CMC and its effects don't stack.

Black splash — If you don't mind splashing a little more heavily into black, then Cover of Darkness [NOT modern legal] can make your spirits harder to block (and I love the flavor!), while Pack's Disdain can be an additional removal spell if you need more than Path to Exile.

Of those, I'd most recommend Obelisk of Urd , Harsh Mercy , and Cover of Darkness .

The hard part with tribal decks is having a reason to actually play the tribe. Right now you've got Sporecrown Thallid but that's it. You could consider Metallic Mimic or Adaptive Automaton, and if you're willing to splash into another color you should definitely spring for Slimefoot, the Stowaway and Pack's Disdain.

As for sideboard, the two general directions you can go in is planning for the decks that are good against you, or planning for the meta (the decks you expect to play against). Wrath effects and dedicated burn decks will both be a struggle for you. I'd recommend you up the number of Heroic Interventions for fighting against control since you can't recover very well from a wrath. I'd also recommend you look at some cheap lifegain or way to interact with burn. I see Congregate there, but by the time you're able to cast it burn decks will have already killed you. Timely Reinforcements is a good option, so is Blessed Alliance. Leyline of Sanctity is a great option too, but its pretty pricey. If you splash black like I suggested you could even look at a few copies of Collective Brutality. Beyond that you should expect the meta. It's very graveyard heavy right now, so I'd recommend 1-3 copies of Rest in Peace. Tron and Storm are also both present, so 1-3 copies of Damping Sphere would be a good idea as well. Artifact and enchantment destruction is always good to have access to, so 1-3 copies of either Fragmentize or Naturalize would serve you well. 1-2 copies of Pithing Needle can be nice as a catch-all, and a bit of extra removal in the form of Blessed Alliance, Journey to Nowhere, or Condemn could be nice in some games too. If you run black those could swap for Fatal Push, Collective Brutality, or Go for the Throat. With the addition of black you could also throw in some hand disruption against combo or control, things like Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck!
