Introduction/Slogan

Strength Through Sacrifice

"Die. But die knowing that your pathetic life will yield a great bounty for me." - Victimize

Life on Jund is an unforgiving battle for survival. There is no governing forces and no laws, only pure freedom exists, and in that freedom, it is every man for themselves.

Enter Kresh. Kresh is an unrelenting warlord capable of beating down your enemies. This deck is all about power and synergy. Standing behind Kresh is an army of creatures ready to make him unimaginably huge.

Pupose/Theme

The strategy for this deck is pretty simple. Sacrifice your creatures/kill your opponent's creatures to make Kresh the Bloodbraided huge, and repeat.

Creatures like Merciless Executioner, Fleshbag Marauder and Shriekmaw are all perfect since they buff Kresh as they enter the graveyard and kill your opponent's creatures, buffing Kresh again. Cards like Walker of the Grove have amazing value as you pay to give Kresh seven 1/1 counters AND get a 4/4 creature to sacrifice in the future on the board.

Although there are many ways you can win with this deck, most win-cons revolve around getting Kresh huge, so it is important to keep him protected. Prepare Kresh's armor before you get him onto the field with cards like Lightning Greaves , Swiftfoot Boots and Whispersilk Cloak. Hexproof will keep Kresh standing from all of those pesky spells, but what about board wipes? Throw on Darksteel Plate and Kresh will survive the many boardwipes EDH typically has-- and when Kresh survives a board wipe, it is very bad news for your opponents...

Synergy

This is where the fun begins.

Kresh can get massive pretty fast, if he stays protected he is going to be an unstoppable force. Here are a few examples of cards working well together:

Ready to win?

Trample the competition with some fun win-cons.

  • After pumping Kresh up throughout the game, Mage Slayer is a simple way to finish the opponent. Especially if it is a 1v1. In a similar style, if you are lucky enough to get out the emblem from Arlinn Kord  , every creature will swing as if it had Mage Slayer equipped.

  • Multiplayer game? Chandra's Ignition is extremely effective at steamrolling opponents. This card has the potential to wipe out every single opponent in one swift blow. Opponents still alive? Then Kresh will most likely be massive and ready to swing for lethal.

  • Crushing your opponents with a singular warlord not your style? Use him to inspire an army then!Get out a decent board presence by making Hyrda Broodmaster monstrous and dropping hyrda babies. Then, cast Overwhelming Stampede swing for lethal. If you have a giant Kresh out (or even just Hydra Broodmaster) you will be delivering lethal for sure.

  • A list of quick, easy, classic finishers for this deck: Rite of Consumption, Essence Harvest, Soul's Fire and of course, Rupture (Which replaced Fling). These cards all work great for breaking down your opponents during the mid-game as well, before you are able to kill them out right. Heart-Piercer Manticore is great because it is a Fling in creature form that can come back on its own after it dies and fling again.

  • Xenagos, God of Revels. One of the best cards in this deck. Whether you are using his ability to double Kresh's power so he can swing out for lethal, double his power for Chandra's Ignition, double his power for any of the Essence Harvest type spells or even just to sacrifice him for Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, he is staple in this deck that leads to many win-cons.
