A Treasure Trove of Hate

The idea of building this deck came to me, when I tried to upgrade my Aminatou-list with all the treasure cards. I then realized, for that plan to work, access to red is inevitable. Breya, Etherium Shaper is an obvious choice then, but I love card advantage and Breya is rather a payoff for Treasure Tokens. That's the reason Kraum, Ludevic's Opus & Tymna the Weaver are leading the deck. They offer so much value in a vacuum, it is truly amazing. Most cards are either treasure- or wheel-themed. The rest are control, tutor and value staples, a few boardwipes and some ramp.

I hope you like this deck, it is by far my favorite right now. If you have suggestions to add on the theme or make it more consistent, please leave a comment

This Deck wants to create Treasures and use them in a game-winning way. The most important generating Card is Smothering Tithe. Natural companions for this card are Wheels. They help us find the Tithe, and also trigger Smothering Tithe, getting us to a critical mass of Treasure Tokens. To increase the synergy, added payoffs for wheels are included: Notion Thies, Narset, Parter of Veils, Consecrates Sphinx, Alms Collector These are very hateful cards to my opponents, hence the name of this deck: A Treasure Trove of Hate.

Counterspells help in protecting the important pieces from getting removed and some strong valuecards round up the deck

  1. Smothering Thithe Hands down the best card for treasures. To get this card quick, some tutors made their way in the list, alongside with a plethora of wheels.

  2. Dockside Extortionist I may be wrong with my opinion on the above card, this guy is strong!

  3. Revel in Riches This card is weird. Sometimes it does literally nothing and is only useful to eat removal for the alternate Win. Other times this makes everyone groan and no one wants to wipe the board anymore.

  4. Treasure Map   Both sides of this card are pretty useful, and this can flip in response to Revel in Riches and Mechanized Production

  5. Prying Blade At first I didn't want to include this card, but it turned out to be pretty good. Putting this on Kraum, makes him a value bomb, that kills with Commander DMG.

  6. Captain Lannery Storm While rightfully considered weak, she often enough can attack without dying

  7. Storm the Vault   The token generating effect of this card is negligible compared to the huge value of the transformed back. I guess Tolarian Academy is banned for a reason..

  8. Depths of Desire A neat little Tempo Card, that also gives me a Treasure

  9. Clever Impersonator, Mechanized Production, Mirrormade All of these are flexible cards and fun to play. Extra Smothering Tithes? Yes, please! A Prying blade each turn? Why not? Getting strong Cards from the opponents is also a good thing to consider.

So how can we win with those little Manatokens? It turns out, lots of cards can do this. Boring X-Spells obviously and other more fun ways. Some of these require the Tokens to be sacrificed.
  • Marionette Master & her little Pet Mayhem Devil With these guys on the field, i have a loaded gun in my hand. With enough tokens, these cards win on the spot, or at least threaten everyone, who dares touching my stuff.

  • Torment of Hailfire Yep, that was obvious...

  • Mnemonic Betrayal Finally a deck that can play this! With the amount of Wheels I play, there has to be some useful Stuff in the graveyards. And the Treasures provide all the Mana i ever need.

  • Breya, Etherium Shaper A nice toolbox, that can control the board or even win, given enough treasures are on the field.

  • Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge Very good card in this list, reducing costs and a game threatening +2

  • Revel in Riches & Mechanized Production Alternating win conditions tend to get removed, which is fine, less removal for Smothering Tithe. In rare cases, no answer is found and I win; these cards however offer value besides threatening a win

  • Armageddon Feel the Hate overflow you, while I continue to play off my treasures and you sit there contemplating your life.

  • Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer Fun way to quickly change the games pace. Having 20 or so Myr-Tokens at once is usually an unwanted surprise.

  • A huge strength comes with the flexibility of powerlevel the Theme offers. With little changes to the list it can be a casual deck or a pub stomping archenemy
The fastest way to pwer down is the secondary commander, Breya, Etherium Shaper. She offers less card advantage, while utilizing the Treasures well. To further lower the strength, I include weaker theme cards, like Prosperous Pirates or Pirate's Prize instead of the powerful hate cards. Notion Thief and Narset, Parter of Veils go out first.
To further strengthen this deck is also quite easy. Clunky theme cards like Deadeye Plunderers can be replaced with strong control cards like Drown in the Loch. More and stronger tutors are also a very reasonable upgrade.
This Decks often struggles to gain Treasures without Smothering Tithe Without Access to that card, the strong Commanders have to work extra duty. And by design choice to add a low amount of single target removal, I struggle to control the Board. Removing Combo pieces is rarely possible.
Cards I will eventually add or think i will try out in the fuutre:

Strionic Resonator Both commanders have triggered abilities, as well as most of the worthy treasure generating effects can be doubled for 2 mana. Maybe this will be a hit.
