Prying Blade Discussion

DespairFaction on Aurelia + Anthem Effects x Double Strike = Winning

Hey I am a long time Aurelia player. How has Prying Blade performed? Ive never seen that one before so I am curious.

I really like these high creature count builds of Aurelia, you can check out mine here. Aurelia 45 Creatures! Also I'm working on a battle cry tribal list which is playing well. Basically check out any cards that whenever they attack give +1/+1.

Personally, I would find some room for True Conviction, Comeuppance, and Teferi's Protection since you are running sun forger. Otherwise every thing else seems pretty tight in this list.

Saint1129 on Death by treasure!

Doomed Dissenter and River Sneak really don't contribute to the theme of your deck at all- ESPECIALLY River Sneak.

I would suggest replacing them with artifact creatures like Scrapheap Scrounger (which can come back from the graveyard after being sacrificed or killed off) or with treasure generators like Prying Blade, Revel in Riches (which provides an alternate win condition), Deadeye Plunderers (which grows while you get more artifacts), or Pitiless Plunderer,

Take note, a lot of the cards I suggested have a really high mana cost, so you'll have to pick which ones you like better so that your mana-curve doesn't get too top-heavy.

magicsheep on Pirates life for me

Yes, currently I would do the following: Remove 2 x Storm Fleet Aerialist and remove 2 x Prying Blade (you're not playing a treasure deck). Let me know if you need any help boarding.

Oh wow, I must have missed Marionette Master in the spoilers. My concern with it is the mana cost. With perfect draws I could drop it turn 4.

I like Prying Blade , especially if I could get it on something unblockable.

Ongoing Investigation is neat, and also benefits from unblockable creatures.

Best part: none of there are expensive options.

A couple of Marionette Master can back up the Disciple of the Vault.

What if you made token artifacts, instead of spending your own valuable cards? There are a few options:

There is the old classic Thopter Foundry and Sword of the Meek combo, but that might be out of the price range.

Kaleidescope on OH LORD JESUS IT'S A FIRE! | Neheb EDH

If it were me I'd try replacing Young Pyromancer or Explorer's Scope with Hammer of Nazahn. Young Pyromancer just doesn't seem to be that synergistic with your game plan as you don't actually play that many instants/sorceries (17 total), you don't have anything to do with the tokens and you're probably just going to end up killing the tokens yourself. Explorer's Scope just seems bad honestly. Just think, would you rather have that equipped to Neheb, or Basilisk Collar, Masterwork of Ingenuity, Prying Blade, Slagwurm Armor, etc.?

Honed Khopesh is alright, but I think Prying Blade is the way to go. It gets you more treasures to get to ascend faster for Slippery Scoundrel. Sometimes that card is just a three mana 2/2 until turn 7-8, so you need to hit ascend more consistently. It could go either way though. Also I'd try out at least 1-2 copies of Ipnu Rivulet against Approach, because if you can mill their approaches you just win because it is their only win condition. Looks really cool for its price and hope its working well for you.

ShadowHawkIII on treasure black

You dont actually have many treasures in this deck, it looks more like a normal black aggressive damage deck, there are some great pirates that make treasures in black Dire Fleet Hoarder Pitiless Plunderer, and some other black spells that grant you treasures Contract Killing, the most obvious being Revel in Riches. The equipment Prying Blade also gives you treasures when you attack. Seeing how expensive your deck already is, it shouldnt be too difficult to get a hold on those black Ixalan cards for even more treasures.
