Combo Disguised as Value

My particular flavor of Muldrotha is a toolbox with a land/ramp focus (so heavy green) while black and blue providing the tutor, control, and combo pieces. The idea is to try and stay under the radar until you can go off by looking like just another value deck. While that’s not always possible, my experience has been that people tend to misjudge how scary Muldrotha can be. She's typically not classified as one of those "Kill on sight" types of commanders. Some of the combos I've put in here have pieces that are innocuous by themselves, so it can be pretty easy to set up without drawing too much hate from your opponents.

Even if people do know the deck and your strategies, with Muldrotha’s built-in resiliency you should be able to grind out games against multiple people targeting your toys from the start. I've had games turn into archenemey as early as turn 3 and still been able to fight my way to a win.

Buyback Walk the Aeons (need at least 3 land drops a turn and either Crucible of Worlds or Ramunap Excavator in play, or it's possible to sac World Shaper every turn to keep paying for the buyback). Another option is using Eternal Witness with a sac outlet for all the turns. It is actually possible to take infinite turns this way, and not just the amount of turns for cards I have left in the deck. It involves Bojuka Boging myself and shuffling cards in with Riftsweeper, but definitely possible.

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord = throw big dumb creatures at everyone. Consuming Aberration is the obvious target, but I've had to resort to throwing Muldrotha at opponents using Command Beacon to get around paying commander tax.

And with some of the changes I’ve made, it’s now possible to make infinite mana. With Phyrexian Altar in play, enchant Muldrotha, the Gravetide with Kaya's Ghostform. You then sac Muldrotha, the Gravetide for B, she comes back due to the ghostform (you actually need to send her to the bin, so be careful when trying to combo off), and you can recast ghostform back on Muldrotha, the Gravetide. She is now considered new, and you can cast all new permanents of each type. Have access to Lotus Petal, and you make infinite mana and can cast all the non-enchantments out of your graveyard. Have Gravebreaker Lamia in the yard / field as well, and tutor your entire deck. Setting this combo up is very easy with Intuition.

Lastly, while it's not really a combo, the resiliency of planeswalkers in Muldrotha makes setting an opponent's life to 1 with Vraska, Relic Seeker fairly possible. Especially if you're able to scrub the board with Pernicious Deed or fog with Spore Frog or Constant Mists every turn... I guess I'll have to consider Vraska, Golgari Queen a win condition too now. I'll be honest, I don't do much attacking with this deck, but needing to connect with just one creature to kill an opponent seems real good when I can recast my dead creatures.

With the deck focus more on toolbox than anything else, there are some cards that may be amazing in a Muldrotha deck, but I have excluded due to reasons. Here are some of them:

Contamination: Originally this deck was a lot more stax-y. I ran cards like this and Mana Vortex to keep my opponents low on resources. These types of cards are absolutely bonkers in Muldrotha and greatly increased my win percentages, but they really aren't that fun to play. As the deck evolved, I found them to be dead cards in my hand as I cast them less and less.

Torment of Hailfire: Similar to Contamination, this card ended up being dead in my hand. It was originally in as an "Ok, lets go on to the next game" kind of card, but I don't think I actually cast it in the past 3 months of it being in the deck. It would be discarded and forgotten in the bin almost every game.

Mindslaver: This is just another unfun card to play with (reasons stated below). But if I end up playing in a meta that leans heavily into "take target player's next turn", I'll consider including this for some defense.

Hermit Druid: along with any other card that pretty much just flips my deck into my graveyard. While they could probably speed up the combos and enable a win faster, that's not really what the deck is built for. I built Muldrotha to be a battlecruiser, to be able to slog through as much removal and hate as possible and still come up with the win. So blasting my library to oblivion really doesn't fit the theme too well. While I do have some self mill, the cards have other abilities that warrant being included (Ashiok, Dream Render preventing my opponents from searching and World Shaper bringing my lands back to play)

This is also the reason I'm not running cards like Jace, Wielder of Mysteries and Laboratory Maniac. It's just a real unfun way to win in my opinion.

Lion's Eye Diamond + Phantasmal Image: Honestly this one is just me being cheap. The combo I'm running now (Kaya's Ghostform on Muldrotha + Phyrexian Altar + Lotus Petal) is pretty much a budget version of the LED combo.

One of the major weaknesses of the deck that I've noticed is the human pilot. If you get hit by any kind of Mindslaver effect, an opponent can make all the wrong decisions and leave you with an awful board-state. While this is typically true for any situation where you get Mindslavered, with cards like Squandered Resources in here, this deck can be especially crippled. Still working on some way to combat this, but as of right now the answer seems to be using my own Mindslaver. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of that card. I know turning the game into a 2v1v1 can up my win percentage, but I really don't like stopping one person from playing for the rest of the game. But my meta doesn't really have too many of these effects, so it's "maybe'd" for now.

I appreciate any feedback you can give me. This is my baby, so if you see any way I can improve it please don't hesitate to let me know. Also, excuse my shameless plug to remind everyone to click that upvote button if you guys like the deck!

Without Mind Over Matter in the deck, it’s not possible to generate tons of mana any time I want anymore (if I’m going infinite I’m winning a different way), so honestly Torment of Hailfire has felt like a dead card in my hand every time. I’m pretty sure I haven’t actually cast it since the changes. So it’s coming out, and instead I’m gonna try to add more to the value engine with Lifecrafter's Bestiary. The passive scry and active draw should work really well in here.

Additionally, I’m gonna try out Wayfarer's Bauble instead of Kodama's Reach. I’m hoping the ability to abuse it will outweigh the fact that it only gets half the lands for the same mana. If I don't like how it feels, I'll be switching it out for Manascape Refractor
