TheoryCrafter on The Madness of Fractal Being Manifested

The biggest threat to your deck is Solemnity. I'd recommend some counterspells including, but not limited to, Decisive Denial, Quandrix Command and Voidslime.

If you can't prevent Solemnity from entering the battlefield, Fecundity and Soul Net will turn your 0/0 Fractals into a boon until cards such as Fade into Antiquity and Naturalize can be used. Your commander's static ability will also feed into it.

You may also wish to consider cards that affect or are affected by +1/+1 counters. These include, but not limited to, The Ozolith, Swarm Shambler, Bramblewood Paragon, Herald of Secret Streams, Vigean Graftmage, Experiment Kraj and Plaxcaster Frogling.

Scavenging Ooze can give your deck some much needed graveyard hate.

Have you considered Simic Ascendancy with all these cards creating creatures with +1/+1 counters on them? You can move growth counters from Simic Ascendancy to Paradox Zone by means of Nesting Grounds.

Other lands to consider for the deck are Cave of Temptation, Forge of Heroes, Littjara Mirrorlake, Llanowar Reborn, Novijen, Heart of Progress, Opal Palace, Oran-Rief, the Vastwood, Temple of Mystery and Tyrite Sanctum.

Other cards to consider for your deck are Altered Ego, Bioshift, Clone Legion, Hardened Scales, Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter, Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner, MirrorBox, Repudiate / Replicate and Slippery Bogbonder.

I hope this helps. Thank you for reading me out. Happy Hunting!

Some thoughts:

  • Generally speaking you want to aim for most of your deck to be playsets (4-ofs) of cards. Having lots of cards run only as 1-of and 2-of copies will only lead to your deck being super inconsistent, and make it a lot harder to present a coherent plan.

  • Modern decks typically find it hard to justify running more than 4 cards (1 playset) costing 4 mana, and often run nothing above this. I think in particular you're going to really struggle to ever cast Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider or Avabruck Caretaker  Flip in a game and have them provide some kind of meaningful impact. I'd suggest ditching them.

  • Some of your cards are too situational to ever be practically useful in a decks mainboard. In particular i'd suggest ditching Fade into Antiquity (too niche), Tamiyo's Safekeeping (too narrow an application, you have loads of creatures so who cares if one dies?), Coalition Relic (this thing costs too much mana to begin with, by the time you can cast it you're already got enough mana to do most things anyway), and Wrenn and Seven (you don't run nearly enough lands to make use of this, plus its not really what your deck wants to do).

  • Golgari decks (known as "The Rock") thrive off attrition style play. In that vein, you may want to consider adding hand disruption cards (like Inquisition of Kozilek, Thoughtseize), as well as some universally good destruction cards (like Abrupt Decay, Assassin's Trophy)

How rough is the mana in this deck? Just cycling through the sample hands it seems like you would have to mulligan pretty aggressively with this build. I think if you want to go with this shrine theme you should at least include multiples of your direct damage shrines. I get that they're legendary but you could still do 2-3 copies each of the stronger ones, some level of redundancy is good in an RNG card game. That would be my more general advice too, try to make it a little more consistent by paring away the weaker shrines and instead running multiples of the good ones.

Random thoughts: Sanctum Weaver seems better than Jukai Naturalist. I also like Sythis, Harvest's Hand in this deck. I think a full playset of each would go a long way in making this deck better immediately. If you're going to keep the enchantress sub-theme (and I would), they're worthy includes. Why are there four mainboard copies of Fade into Antiquity?

Really nice deck dude. How do you perform with it ?

My 2CP is that you got a bit too high curve for the format. Especially since just like me you play green without the dorks.

First -> go to 37 lands at least (!!!). Seriously, appart Akira/Silas, some special Sram decks or Mono red decks, competitive decks with less than 35/36 lands don't exist.

Lower your curve a lot or add all the dorks.

Eventually take a look at this website listing the deck lists of all the winners in major events of the format the past 3 years (pretty sure you'll can find some skullB decks) : https://www.mtgtop8.com/format?f=EDH

I saw Vampiric Tutor in maybeboard but this is ban in the format :)

Auto Add : Fatal Push - Ulvenwald Tracker - Titanic Brawl - Toxic Deluge

If you want to keep your voltron strategy : Blossoming Defense - Vines of Vastwood - Heroic Intervention - Ranger's Guile

Some Cut : Beast Within give a 3/3 turn 3 in this format is not good especially without dorks. Phyrexian Arena because Dark Confidant is better. Primeval Bounty , Asceticism and Doubling Season -> you basically spend your turn 5 or 6 doing nothing :/

Seal of Primordium < Fade into Antiquity < Krosan Grip < Naturalize < Natural State < Nature's Claim < Reclamation Sage especially if you don't play with dorks

I ran Lost in the Woods in an earlier rendition of the deck and dropped it due to the inconsistency and constantly losing good cards to the bottom of my library.

I'm considering doing a build with Dosan the Falling Leaf , so Spike Weaver and Fade into Antiquity could definitely find spots.

Night Soil is interesting and I might play around with it. The upside to Scavenging Ooze is the potential lifegain and it can target noncreature cards. We have a Bruna deck that runs rampant some games and taking out a crap ton of enchantments out of that graveyard has been awesome.

Predator, Flagship is kinda neat, but really mana intensive, so I doubt it'll find a home here.

I do like Arena and will playtest it though. Thanks for the suggestions!

Love khamal. best wrath insurance green can buy.

"I cast Wrath of God !"

"I animate all your lands."

"..."

"one sided Armagedon isn't too funny, is it?"

odd card options you may not have considered:

Lost in the Woods provides recurring fog effect (although not consistantly), along with giving some tuck as needed

Spike Weaver + Forgotten Ancient offers a legged fog engine that replenishes itself

Fade into Antiquity may be slower than instant speed, but it exiles instead of tucking

Night Soil exiles as part of the cost, meaning that the creature removal cannot be responded to.

Predator, Flagship is a good colorless creature removal engine, and Arena is one of my mono green deck's MVPs

Enlarge, Fade into Antiquity, Lost in the Woods, Coldsteel Heart, Phytoburst, Aspect of Hydra, Howl of the Night Pack, Soul of the Harvest, Soul of Zendikar, and all of the spells that do nothing but gain you life can go.

Naturalize is a must. Rampant Growth, Kodama's Reach, and Cultivate are all good ramp. Overrun can be a game-ender. Harmonize is good card draw. Fyndhorn Elves and Elvish Mystic are essentially extra copies of Llanowar Elves. In this deck, so is Arbor Elf. You also might want to consider some utility lands, like Oran-Rief, the Vastwood or Blighted Woodland. There's also a bunch of good stuff coming in Core 2019 that you might want to check out.
