Maybeboard

Welcome to another budget, competitive EDH list. I set my budget for this deck to be $500, which constricts many of the tutors and lands available, but allows for a still-powerful decklist that can win between turns 4 and 7 with consistency. This is a little slow for competitive EDH, which is why the deck has a lot of counterspells and other forms of interaction.

This deck is designed to be a combo deck that produces infinite mana in order to draw out the deck with Thrasios, Triton Hero and win with Walking Ballista. The card choices in the deck are primarily cards that find combo pieces and protect combo pieces. There remains a decent amount of interaction in the deck because, as stated before, it is a little slower than other combo decks in the format, and it needs to protect itself from those decks.

Updates Add

This deck is pretty much brand new to me, so this part is all about figuring out what cards work and which ones don't. The matches will be recorded, so go ahead and click on the blue links, and if you like the videos, show your support on YouTube by liking the video and/or subscribing to my channel. :)

Testing Record (6-0)

Note that these are NOT games labeled "Comp EDH" yet; still testing

Thrasios/Tymna v Jin-Gitaxias v Gonti

In this match I found how explosive the deck can be when nothing interferes with its plans. I also realized that with as much ramp as I generate, I would find my combos much faster with Training Grounds, so I swapped out Abrupt Decay for Training Grounds, and I'll see if I like it that way or not. I also swapped Beast Within out for Chain of Vapors and updated my mana base.

Thrasios/Tymna v Baral v Kalemne

Couldn't record this game or the next game, but this one boiled down to the Baral player not getting any lands and countering a Linvala, Keeper of Silence, which allowed me to tutor Intruder Alarm with Kiora's Follower and Forbidden Orchard out on my turn 6.

Thrasios/Tymna v Depala v Karthus

No fear of counterspells, so this one was easy. T1 Sunken Hollow, pass. T2 Hallowed Fountain + Thrasios, pass. T3 Demonic Tutor->Power Artifact + Canopy Vista, pass. T4 topdeck Cabal Ritual, play Forbidden Orchard, enough lands to play ritual, Monolith, and Power Artifact, draw my deck.

Abrupt Decay back in. Cut Reality Shift combo since it is generally not played in favor of playing Ballista.

Thrasios/Tymna v Sisay v Kari Zev

This game was decided by the Sisay player's decision to play Elesh Norn rather than Gaddock Teeg. Had he played Teeg and equipped it with Greaves, I would've had a much harder time winning. Without that play, I was still able to combo off regardless of losing two dorks and the Kari Zev player putting down Winter Orb. I used Dark Petition and Trophy Mage to find Basalt Monolith and Power Artifact to win this one on T5.

Thrasios/Tymna v Marchesa v Uril v Bruna, the Fading Light

This game was pretty easy because I played Dark Ritual into Ad Nauseam on Marchesa's end step after they tapped out. I drew a decent amount of my deck to get Basalt Monolith, Sol Ring, and Vampiric Tutor. In my upkeep, I played Vampiric Tutor to find Power Artifact. I played the Sol Ring with my only remaining non-blue source and played Basalt Monolith with a Hallowed Fountain and the Sol Ring. I then played Fellwar Stone off of the monolith, floating a mana. I then cast the Power Artifact targeting the Monolith, used the one floating to untap, and then generated infinite mana to cast the Walking Ballista in my hand.

Moving into rooms labeled Semi Competitive

Thrasios/Tymna v Uril v Karametra

Opening hand had Grim Monolith, Basalt Monolith and Shred Memory. I topdeck Dramatic Reversal, so I play Thrasios on T2, and the two Stones on T3. I tutor with Shred Memory to find Isochron Scepter and draw my deck with Pact of Negation back up in order to win via Walking Ballista.
