Like playing big beaters? Enjoy pummeling your opponents early game with aggro strats? Then hit the road because mid-game little guys is the way this deck plays.

Non-linear gameplay and deck design is something I enjoy thoroughly, and this zombie toolbox of limitless potential does the job quite well.

Sultai is my favorite color pie, and I have spent years playing around with different builds and commanders. I hope that this deck can give some inspiration for your own builds, and for those looking for a deck that is difficult to pilot without practice, then feel free to give her a shot.

Obviously this deck is weak to grave hate. Your number one priority is getting the player with Leyline of the Void and Tormod's Crypt out of the game as fast as you can. You have plenty of ways to chump block and tap down fliers with zombie generation and Opposition, but stompy/aggro is another archetype you could struggle with early game if they can cheat out beaters before your army is amassed. (We don't always have 15 squirrels on board turn 4)
If you see someone with Phenax, God of Deception in their command zone, just give them a wink and hope they do your job for you. Mill is exactly what this deck wants to do and even if it isn't yourself you can take advantage of your opponents milling out their valuable removal and combos pieces without lifting a finger. Going up against combo/control/mid-range decks is not as much a strength as it is just preferable to grave hate toolboxes.
This deck is super non linear in the ways you come to achieve your victory, but the wincons are usually the same. Either grab an army and swing out with Filth and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, cycle Gempalm Polluter a few times with the same army out, mill out your opponents using Altar of the Brood - Mesmeric Orb - Altar of Dementia - Embalmer's Tools, or sac outlet your shamblers to drain everyone with Diregraf Captain.

All of these ways to win have interchangeable pieces, and have many ways to get set up without your opponent's seeing them coming. This deck is not very straightforward, but if you understand how each piece has potential to interact with it you should find yourself able to pilot it without running into any hiccups.

There are so many ways to interact with you opponent's boards and prevent them from gaining too much advantage over you early on. Here is a small list of interactions between your pieces that should allow you to lock out opponent's and set yourself up for victory in any situation.

  1. Nullmage Sheperd + a bunch of zombies to tap = removal of any pesky grave hate items or combo pieces you don't like.
  2. Seeker of Skybreak + Mesmeric Orb = the ability to mill your entire library if you so choose. (This works great with Sidisi on board as each trigger of mesmeric orb will count as separate triggers of her ability!)
  3. Prime Speaker Vannifar + Intuder Alarm = searching your library for that specific creature you want on board while filling your grave as well
  4. Seedborn Muse + Mesmeric Orb or Opposition or Nullmage Shepherd = a plethora of ways to mess with your opponents and prevent them from responding
  5. Haunted Crossroads + Phyrexian Altar + Embalmer's Tools = infinite death/etb triggers if you have 2 zombie tokens and a creature in grave
  6. Lazav, the Multifarious + any creature with activated abilities in our grave = The best interaction anyone could ask for. (Who needs recursion when you can turn Lazav into any creature at instant speed?)

There are plenty of other interactions, but I'll let you be the one to figure it out. I can't just hand you the deck on a silver platter, much like a jewel adorned servant of the Sultai would :)
