Barbarian Class
Enchantment — Class
(This enters the battlefield at Level 1: You may increase this enchantment's level by one by paying the appropriate costs. Activate to increase the level only as a sorcery.)
Level 1
If you would roll one or more dice, instead roll that many dice plus one and ignore the lowest roll.
: Level 2
Whenever you roll one or more dice, target creature you control gets +2/+0 and gains menace until end of turn.
: Level 3
Creatures you control have haste.
legendofa on Are there any flavor/biological reasons …
1 year ago
SteelSentry Yeah, my last sentence was more absolute, I guess is the right word, than it needed to be. Creature types do have an important role in flavor and identity. My point, poorly stated as it was, is that M:tG creature types don't represent real-world taxonomy well, and fantasy taxonomy is exactly as precise or arbitrary as the creators make it.
I don't know enough about the cultural history of nagas to really speak on them, other than they're important in southern and southeastern Asia, so I didn't really address that one. I understand there's a similar story with rakshasa from Tarkir vs. real-world culture. Something I need to learn about.
The viashino could have become Dragons instead of Lizards, and I wouldn't see a problem with that. You have a good point with the dragonborn. (AFR has its own flavor and mechanical fails, though, running off D&D rules. An Owlbear would last about two seconds against an Adult Gold Dragon, not fight it to the death, and Barbarian Class leaned too heavily into the D&D class mechanics. For M:tG Barbarians, it's a stupid-expensive Fervor. No Barbarian or Berserker card so far rolls dice, and only Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients
has anything to do at all with dice rolling. Hey, look, a Dragon!)
But I don't think there's much risk of further changes. Most of the other M:tG-original humanoid-animal creatures already belong to the animal creature type: nacatl, leonin, all kinds of aven, wolfir, ainok, rhox (which were usually animalistic before 10th Edition), loxodons, everything from Bloomburrow... It's just kind of bringing the old stuff in line with the new stuff.
And now that I'm thinking about it, I want to see snail people. Move over, Toxrill. The Snail Wizards are coming in.
legendofa on Does Barbarian class affect planar …
2 years ago
I know that the planar die for the Planechase format doesn't have values, so there's no "higher" or "lower" rolls. With that, do effects like Barbarian Class and Wyll, Blade of Frontiers affect how many times you roll the planar die? If so, which roll do you use, or is it roller's choice?

Several cards with level up/leveling activated abilities are marked as illegal when Zirda, the Dawnmaker is designated as companion.
Here is a list of the cards I have noticed:
Lighthouse Chronologist, Artificer Class, Barbarian Class, Cleric Class, Druid Class, Fighter Class, Monk Class, Paladin Class, Ranger Class, Rogue Class, Sorcerer Class, Warlock Class, Wizard Class
Phyrexian Dragon Engine Meld seems to have a similar issue.

hasteland

For global haste you can use Fires of Yavimaya, Concordant Crossroads, Mass Hysteria, and Urabrask the Hidden who will also conveniently turn off other people's haste. Anger and Barbarian Class also give haste after more effort.
Ant Queen, Artifact Mutation, Battle Hymn, Circle of Dreams Druid, Dragon Broodmother, Pest Infestation, Scute Swarm, Tempt with Vengeance, Sylvan Offering, Termagant Swarm are all useful if you can give haste to all of them.
Birds of Paradise is just the best mana dork.
You have green, so you might as well use the standard ramp package with Cultivate , Kodama's Reach, Explore , Farseek, , Rampant Growth, Three Visits and Nature's Lore. Probably ignore most mana rocks, because people are going to want to vandalblast you just because of the treasures.
Relentless Assault, Scourge of the Throne, Combat Celebrant, Hexplate Wallbreaker, World at War grant extra combats, with Hellkite Charger and Aggravated Assault potentially going infinite.
Vandalblast goes in every red deck. Even though youll have a ton of treasures i'd still run Brotherhood's End too
For draw spells consider Scroll Rack, Garruk's Uprising, Elemental Bond, Soul's Majesty, Furious Rise, Rishkar's Expertise, Beast Whisperer, Shamanic Revelation, Disciple of Bolas, Pact of the Serpent, Painful Truths, Harmonize, Sign in Blood, Night's Whisper, Read the Bones, Ambition's Cost, Ancient Craving, Damnable Pact, Commune with Lava, Lifeblood Hydra, or maybe Necropotence although the color restricion on necro is tough, treasures should take care of it.
Fable of the Mirror-Breaker Flip, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer , The Reaver Cleaver , Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge , Ancient Copper Dragon , Old Gnawbone Ziatora, the Incinerator for more treasure makers. Pyrohemia and Pestilence could be fun with the extra mana. Awaken the Woods is an amazing x spell too, but wont appreciate the two aforementioned cards.
If you're using magda the deck will benefit from dragons and expensive artifacts. throw in Imperial Recruiter and Worldly Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, and Demonic Tutor all go in your colors. so you can get her more consistently. Darksteel Forge and Gate to Phyrexia can be tutored into play with her for five treasure.
If you use dragons, you could add Dragonstorm, but you should carefully consider how many cheap spells you expect to be able to cast if you arent building specifically towards this card. Chatterstorm, Empty the Warrens, Yawgmoth's Will, Jeska's Will, Mana Geyser, and Manamorphose, Past in Flames are all good on their own and would add synergy.
If it ends up dragon tribal, cards like Crippling Fear , Kindred Dominance, Crux of Fate
Swashbuckler Extraordinaire is a very good payoff for using treasures if you dont use certain other nightmarish dragons like Atarka, World Render, Blast-Furnace Hellkite, Terror of Mount Velus, Thrakkus the Butcher
legendofa on Can I demonstrate a Loop …
No. Delina, Wild Mage's ability is nondeterministic, meaning that it doesn't have a guaranteed outcome. Even with a stack of Barbarian Classes, you won't be able to guarantee that you will never roll below a 15 and continue the dice-rolling chain.
Basically, unless you can demonstrate that you roll 15 or higher 100% of the time, you can't claim an infinite loop.

Abaques on Commander cards in Standard?

legendofa I did misread Chaos Dragon, though there is Barbarian Class which makes it much better.
Court of Cunning has never been standard legal, so that would explain why it didn't show up in any standard mill decks. :)

The Deck of Many Dice (Grixis d20)
Yeah Blackgate Delina, Wild Mage + Earth-Cult Elemental has caused quick quits. I am thinking Skullport Merchant (mana for the spell book) or Scion of Stygia (lock up blockers entirely + more rolls for Barbarian Class. In praise of this deck, I have taken down a few life gainers by using a single Delina + Barbarian Class pumped up to Haste. May the dice be ever in your favor.
