There are very few birds to be found here. Odd, because this is a tribal bird theme deck. You aren't even running Maskwood Nexus or Arcane Adaptation

So here are some birds I found that would be fun to play:

Right off the bat it looks really good. All of the standard categories are covered. There are a few cards though that don't pull enough weight. I'm not sure Arctic Aven, Dawnfeather Eagle, Aven Fateshaper, Serra Aviary, Brave the Sands, and Always Watching do enough to keep around. Derevi gives all your creatures a psuedo- vigilance already. I would replace these with Judge's Familiar, Windbrisk Raptor, Mindshrieker, Aerie Mystics, and Kangee, Aerie Keeper. There are also good arguments to include Mirror Entity or Beastmaster Ascension for an easy win-con, Rout or Phyrexian Rebirth to wipe the board, and Basalt Monolith or Gilded Lotus to abuse Derevi Untap triggers. Rounding out the mana base with a Seaside Haven and the bounce lands will keep your hand full. Later upgrades I would consider adding would be Kruphix, God of Horizons and Reliquary Tower to max hand size and allow you to keep all of the extra mana Derevi enables.

I think you'd love a set of Pride of the Clouds. Even at two mana, he can easily be the biggest creature around. Soulcatcher is a similarly powerful two-drop, which can make your opponent hesitate to kill your other creatures. I'd also run Judge's Familiar or Cloudfin Raptor over Flying Men. Thunderclap Wyvern makes a good pseudo-lord (I find him more impressive than Archon of Redemption) especially with his ability to show up mid-combat.

Squadron Hawk gives you some card advantage, providing an army off just one card. Plus, it combos well with the Pride of the Clouds. Other efficient flyers that might interest you include Arctic Aven, Lyev Skyknight and Azorius First-Wing. Good luck!

That's a fair point about Mulldrifter. And I can see where the shroud on Deft Duelist could be offputting. I'm fairly sure you can still Cipher onto a shrouded creature, and Conspire with them, but you are right that you'd be unable to target it. I was just trying to pull creatures off the top of my head.

How would you feel about something like Dauntless River Marshal or Arctic Aven? They seem to fit in with your conditional self-buffing efficient creature base.

It is a nice combo (Sphinx of Magosi and Righteous Authority). It is also extremely fragile as it costs a total of 11 mana and can be killed by something as simple as a 1 mana spell -- setting you back 10 mana. Most enchantments that buff your creatures are pretty meh for that same reason. For one card from your opponent, they can kill 2 cards and set you back a lot of mana investment. I have no doubt that combo could work in more of a tap out control/midrange style build. But I won't help you much in a tempo style.

As far as how to split creatures and non creatures, I would say it depends on your play style. You can certainly make a fairly spell heavy or creature heavy build work. But for what I am assuming is your budget, it would be better go to play around 20 creatures. Some of the tempo spells can run on the expensive side. I did a quick search through gatherer and came up with a list of creatures for you peruse. I did not look at prices for these cards, but I tried to exclude ones that I knew for sure would be expensive.
