Detailing the Win

This deck is an Esper Artifact deck that's primary focus is to create an infinite combo to win. This is not meant for a casual game with your friends, it is designed to compete with top tier EDH decks.

I chose Esper because of the range of options available in //.

1. is a strong color to have in EDH as it provides the control necessary to win in a competitive EDH environment, and also has the card advantage to ensure your drawing of the combo pieces.

2. works well in this deck because of the tutors and the removal. The tutors are needed to make sure you have the cards/combo pieces to win, and the removal provides the buffer necessary to set up my win.

3. is generally used in EDH as a "pillowfort" color. This deck contains very few white cards, but they do provide creature removal, artifact protection, and life protection.

Why Oloro?

Oloro, Ageless Ascetic is one of the most used commanders in EDH right now. Even though he has been banned from tournament play, I continue to play with him as he provides the best options. A consistent 2 life a turn can make a huge difference in a multiplayer game. I have never cast him, as that provides opportunity for him to get tucked and cut off my life gain. Also, many other people view him as a mainly midrange deck, and generally leave him alone for a few turns. When I go to tournaments, I replace him with Sharuum the Hegemon, as she is the most relevant Esper artifact commander.

The Combos

This deck wins by creating an infinite mana combo. There are many options of how to create a combo, with multiple card options.

Combo 1: Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron and Palinchron + Phantasmal Image . These are the classics.

Combo 2: Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth . Understanding this combo is difficult, as it is a 6-stack affect, yet it works.

Combo 3: Grim Monolith + Power Artifact , Basalt Monolith + Power Artifact . No one seems to remember Power Artifact anymore, but it is incredibly powerful.

What to do with the Mana

Once a combo has been set up, there needs to be a way to win using all of the mana.

In 1v1 EDH, Braingeyser is the same thing as Blue Sun's Zenith, but in multiplyer having the Zenith is essential as it allows you to tutor for it again and kill the other opponents.

The most effective EDH kill card is Debt to the Deathless. It can kill every opponent as early as turn 5 or 6, and provides the essential 3rd option for a win.

Card Synergies

This deck runs an expensive suite of control spells. It has the EDH counter staples Mana Drain, Counterspell, Spell Crumple, Force of Will, and Stifle. This deck's cheap removal consists of Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Hero's Demise , Go for the Throat, and Doom Blade. All but the Force of Will and Spell Crumple can be exiled with Isochron Scepter, and with Unwinding Clock , you get a counter or kill on every person's turn. Mana Drain is easily the most fun, as I have sometimes found myself adding up to 15 mana on each of my turns in Multiplyer games.

This deck relies heavily on it's ability to ramp in the early game.

Tezzeret: Two of my planeswalkers are Tezzerets, Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas , and Tezzeret the Seeker . Each of them have great synergies with an artifact deck. Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas is a great artifact/deck search tool, and can be a win condition of the combos fail. Tezzeret the Seeker synergizes with all of the mana rocks to provide massive amounts of mana in the mid game.

Prototype Portal is a great card in any artifact deck, and it can copy the mana docks with great success. prototype portall + Unwinding Clock + Mana Vault gives you another vault on each person's turn, and if you have Voltaic Key, 2 on each turn.

One of the most fun combs in EDH, or any format, is the Crucible of Worlds + Strip Mine/Wasteland combo to kill one of your opponent's lands each turn. Crucible of Worlds also works well with fetches, allowing quick tutors of any of the duals to keep mana consistent.
