Aminatou, the Fateshifter

Theme: Control

Sub-theme: Doomsday Combo

Introduction

My history with Aminatou began with this deck, when I tried to make a control deck abusing of blink effects. While I still believe the deck had potential, and I won some games, the deck lacks speed and some consistency on some combos.

Studying the cEDH meta, Zur Doomsday got my attention, so I changed the deck to fit into this playstyle. Since I don't have Lion's Eye Diamond, plus some others cards that cost a lot, I had to change the piles of Doomsday. Everything will be explained on the next topic.

If you have anything to contribute, just comment above.

Deck goals

The main goal of the deck is to win through Doomsday immediately after you cast it.

If Doomsday isn't available, there are 3 others Win conditions, although it is a lot less efficient.

All wins on this deck benefit themselves from Silence, if you don't have Silence, remember to have a counter backup.

Doomsday

There are some restrictions I've established to set Doomsday, they are:

  1. The limit of mana it will consume is 5 manas, for piles with more than this mana, it will be very situational
  2. Piles must win on the turn you cast it
  3. Piles can have X slots, that are cards not exactly useful for the pile, just put there some card you think is useful.
  4. All piles expect that you can somehow draw the first card
  5. Every pile has it on explanation about mana cost(ho much mana you need to go through) and the full cost, that contains both mana cost and others costs, like life, lands or others cards in play

Those are the most optimized piles, I believe.

Pile 1

Mana cost: UB Full cost: UB 2 Island 5 Life

Pile:

  1. Gush
  2. Careful Study
  3. Reanimate
  4. Laboratory Maniac
  5. Gitaxian Probe

Steps:

  1. Cast Gush returning 2 islands
  2. Cast Careful Study
  3. Dicarding Laboratory Maniac and a island you returned
  4. Cast Reanimate targeting Laboratory Maniac
  5. Cast Gitaxian Probe

Pile 2

Mana cost: UUB1 Full cost: UUB1 2 Island 6 Life / UUB1 8 Life

Pile:

  1. Careful Study
  2. Laboratory Maniac
  3. Deep Analysis
  4. Reanimate
  5. Gush/Gitaxian Probe

Steps:

  1. Cast Careful Study
  2. Dicarding Laboratory Maniac and Deep Analysis
  3. Cast Deep Analysis from graveyard
  4. Cast Reanimate targeting Laboratory Maniac
  5. Cast Gush/Gitaxian Probe

For this pile, you will need some sort of draw effect on your hand.

Mana cost: UB2 Full cost: UB2 Some draw, Two Islands

  1. Gush

  3. Laboratory Maniac
  4. X

Non-doomsday win conditions
