Kheru Mind-Eater Discussion

Treachery and Slave of Bolas are funny cards, Kheru Mind-Eater , Lord of the Void , Thief of Sanity are some value creatures you can play around with. Oh! Not to mention Acquire and Bribery as well xD

If you are looking for more / better specter cards, there are some that are not technically specter's but still have the discard effect such as Kheru Mind-Eater , Dreamstealer , Liliana's Reaver .

You can also double the triggers with Strionic Resonator , Fireshrieker , and Grappling Hook .

And as long as you are getting in for combat damage, why not run Sword of the Animist , Bloodforged Battleaxe, Mask of Memory , or even Quietus Spike / Scytheclaw ?

Also, Rogue's Passage is a pretty decent land if you can't get in easily.

Finally, Sepulchral Primordial can get some value from those discarded cards.

Hey buddy!

No worries on the cards I listed, those are just ideas that I have seen and not tuned just yet! I agree why you wouldn't run most of the ones you listed. Crackling Doom is a meta call as I'm unsure what your exact meta is like, but I absolutely love that card because no one ever sees it coming! Bloodghast was more for the reanimation theme but that's not what we are going for in this deck build.

I'm actually a fan of Kheru Mind-Eater it's not to actually cast cards from your opponents but to deny them of CA. Plus you can also play their lands if they choose to exile lands from their hands!

A few cards I would consider out atm, probably Dictate of Erebos (I like it because it has your name on it but for efficiency sake it's that or Grave Pact), Vampire Nighthawk, Olivia, Mobilized for War, and Bloodghast.

I would actually consider cutting out all the non-efficient one drops as well like Vampire Cutthroat, Skymarcher Aspirant, Falkenrath Gorger. Further refinement also would need cuts for cards like Asylum Visitor as it will dilute your deck.

Your thoughts?

hkhssweiss There are some cards that I've added and later rejected for ex:

Legion's Landing  Flip - it may be good at Standard, but in EDH I don't feel like spending 3 mana for 1 token in aggro deck like this is worth it. Multiple draw engines will let me cast better stuff for that 3 mana most of the time.

Kheru Mind-Eater - since I will be playing on a curve, I don't think that I will have "time" to cast my opponents stuff.

Bloodghast - I love playing this guy in modern, but in edh it's not that "impactful" I think...

The Immortal Sun is great and I've felt like it's auto include at first, but later I've realised that 6 mana is a bit high tho.

Crackling Doom - I have mixed feelings about this one.

You've included some cards that I've been using in my Meren deck (Abomination, Vampiric Rites etc) and I wanted to put them here also.

It's not an easy task to choose what to include since there are so many good cards to choose from that are great in that kind of build. I will trim it several times, and let you know.

Hey TheErebos!

Alright so cards off the top of my head to definitely keep for the vampires.

Now moving on to the card types, for anthem/doubling/synergy token effects:

Now going for the interaction suite:

Now for card draw engines:

No good deck is left without tutors as well:

So far those cards are to be considered, sort through the cards and we can refine them to a playable deck list. Add in 36 lands to start, I feel that eventually we can cut it down to 34-35 since Markov will run a low curve. The basic lands should be good along with the basic multicolor mana base like Command Tower, Reflecting Pool, Mana Confluence, Exotic Orchard, City of Brass, the shock lands (Godless Shrine, Blood Crypt, Sacred Foundry), and also the painlands for now (Battlefield Forge, Caves of Koilos, Sulfurous Springs).

Let me know when you update it!

I really enjoy what your Doran build. I also run a Doran deck, which you can find here. Check it out, perhaps it gives you some ideas as well.

Your altered commander is truely a beauty and deserves some love ;)

I am curious why you didn't select these all-stars:

  • Forgotten Ancient : In multiplayer it goes outta control in no time.
  • Guiltfeeder : It already starts at 4 damege with Doran aboard and it can only get better
  • Kheru Mind-Eater : I got some much value out of it. It's 2 for 1: they lose a card and you 'gain' a card.
  • Runic Armasaur : So spicy and the big butt gives it the extra flavor!
  • Rogue's Passage : Any big butt deserves a V.I.Butt pass to the party
  • Shizo, Death's Storehouse : No VIB should go alone.... Couple them up to crash the party.

Enjoy from a Big Butt lover :)
