Hi everyone, and welcome to my Momir Vig, Simic Visionary Commander deck! This deck is part of a series of Commander deck I am building from From the Vault: Lore which will also include Memnarch and Glissa, the Traitor . You can find those deck lists on my profile or in my From the Vault: Lore deck folder! I wanted to make these three commander decks because I felt like I needed to expand my Commander arsenal and spice up my playgroup with decks they haven't seen me play before. The first deck I chose was Memnarch because I wanted to start off with the most expensive converted mana cost Commander, then continue on in descending order. So now I'm on to Momir Vig, Simic Visionary !

The most important aspect when playing this deck is the power of choice. You have so many options between creatures you can tutor up with Momir Vig, Simic Visionary that it can be a daunting task to find a creature that will win you the game. However, do you really need a strategy when you get a free tutor? Well if you want to win quickly you do! This deck will play a series of creatures needed to ensure that your opponents won't be able to play any more spells, and frankly, just stop playing spells all together! Become the scientist you dream to be by creating creatures that together spin a web your opponents can't escape.

This deck's strategy relies heavily on having Momir Vig, Simic Visionary on the battlefield while you cast creature spells in order to get his broken triggers. So the very first thing to get in your opening hand is Land, Ramp, and cheaply costed creatures. You need Lands and Ramp so you can get Momir Vig, Simic Visionary out as fast as possible, then cast some creatures to get your engine going. Try to prioritize your multicolored & creatures because they make Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's triggers a lot better.

Now that you have Momir Vig, Simic Visionary on the field, time to cast some creatures! It's important to note that if you are to cast a & creature, you can stack Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's triggers in any way you like. If you cast say a River Hoopoe but you really want that Clever Impersonator that you know is on top of your deck, you can abuse Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's abilities and put the second trigger on top of his first trigger. This will let you get that Clever Impersonator into your hand and then tutor a creature to the top of your deck, which also lets you set up your next move whenever you cast that Clever Impersonator . It's also good to note that Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's second ability doesn't draw you a card, so effects like Nekusar, the Mindrazer won't take effect.

Well now that you're casting some creature spells, what creatures do you grab with Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's triggers? Luckily, this deck runs a Lock Combo which will prevent them from ever casting another spell ever again. You can find that combo under the "Combo" section. Once you have that combo running, you can grab as many creatures at your hearts content then swing in for massive damage with Craterhoof Behemoth !

The Lock Combo is as follows:
  1. Cast Momir Vig, Simic Visionary
  2. Cast any creature to trigger Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's first ability and put Seedborn Muse on top of your deck. If that creature was also you can use Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's second ability to put it into your hand.
  3. Cast Seedborn Muse , which will trigger Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's first ability again. With that ability, put Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir on top of your deck. You can then use Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's second ability by casting any creature to put Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir into your hand, or you can draw it with effects like Sensei's Divining Top .
  4. Cast Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir , which will trigger Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's second ability. However, there is no guarantee that you'll get a creature this way, so his ability doesn't matter to much here.
  5. Cast a creature to activate Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's first ability, or a creature to get both triggers. Use those triggers and grab Mystic Snake .
  6. Cast Mystic Snake (probably counter a spell too) triggering both of Momir Vig, Simic Visionary abilities. Use those abilities and grab Deadeye Navigator .
  7. Cast Deadeye Navigator ( Momir Vig, Simic Visionary 's abilities will trigger again but I'm going to ignore that), then Soulbond it to Mystic Snake .
