Feral Prowler over Generous Stray, even better would be Skullclamp but your deck seems to be budget. Arahbo, Roar of the World is to slow (great in commander). Skyhunter Skirmisher is almost always better than Leonin Skyhunter. Kaheera, the Orphanguard should be more than a one of in main board, also even after companion was killed as a mechanic it should still probably be run as a companion since you already meet the requirement. Guardians' Pledge is just bad, there are better versions of it.

Secluded Steppe should never be run in a 60 card non singleton format, Stirring Wildwood could be run as a two of if you really want to but I wouldn't run more than two of them. Temple of Plenty and all other temple's are to slow, just run basics or throw in the money for shocks/sac lands.

Not sure why your making a budget vintage deck, chances are whatever you want to run will be modern legal. (note Skullclamp isn't modern legal)

Great idea for a deck!

I see you put in tons of ways to blink your Commander, but not many ways to actually leverage the advantage of having tons of goats in play. I would recommend adding in as many mass pump spells as you can to end the game with your Goat army.

A few suggestions: Guardians' Pledge, Inspired Charge, Righteous Charge, Ramosian Rally and Kytheon's Tactics are all relatively cheap and powerful pump spells for your team. There's also Marshaling Cry, Charge and Sanctified Charge if you want to go a bit deeper.

Wayfarer's Bauble is your main picture, but it is not in your deck. This would be a good inclusion.

You have a lot fo enchantment hate. Any particular reason why? You could be running more effective, broader removal instead, like Oblivion Ring, Faith's Fetters, Angelic Purge and Isolation Zone. Some of these can also be blinked or bounced to retarget more important permanents in the future. In terms of creature removal, Journey to Nowhere is an important piece you are missing. There are also many interesting Pacifism-style effects to choose from in terms of removal. It will also work well with your Commander's Chroma ability.

With all of your blink effects, I don't think you need to include any other protection spells. Something like Indestructible Aura just doesn't seem necessary.

I’d probably run Thorn of the Black Rose over Read the Bones for this list. Monarchy is super good in Pauper, and with all your weenie creatures you should have no problem retaining it.

I second Raise the Alarm over Gather the Townsfolk . Instant speed seems like it matters more than fateful hour in a list focused on lifegain.

Revoke Existence probably isn’t necessary as a four-of, at most I’d run two. I’d add a couple copies of Battle Screech or Guardians' Pledge in its place.

Some suggestions for you that you might be interested in:

Raid Bombardment - This will act similarly to Orcish Oriflamme, should always trigger on each of your tokens provided you sequence your anthem buff spells correctly, and does the damage directly to get around blockers / fogs.

Flame Slash - Strictly better than Boulder Salvo.

Guardians' Pledge - Pretty good anthem effect, possibly situationally better than Rally the Forces or Rally the Righteous.

Aftershock - This one may be too cute, but, short of doing a ton of damage to something, you don't have a way to outright destroy a creature. This does that, and will trigger the commander, too. It may be better to just run Oblivion Ring, but I've found it to be very useful.

Pyromatics - Replicate can help trigger Blaze Commando multiple times. Battle Hymn into this would be awesome.

Chain Lightning - More flexible than Lava Spike. Can trigger Blaze Commando more than once if your opponent messes up (never send a chain lightning back if the caster has RR open ;) ). Actually, in paper, it costs less $$, too!

Guardians' Pledge was in the original version in place of Ramosian Rally. I still have yet to decide which I prefer. The reach that Guardians' Pledge gives is tough to beat but I get more protection from sweepers with Ramosian Rally. Unmake is one I hadn't even considered! I'll have to look in to trying it at least as a 1 of. Seems interesting! I like instant speed and the exile could definitely come in handy. Thanks!

Nice one, man! Have you thought about Unmake for more removal? Only other suggestions I can think of would be Guardians' Pledge and Borrowed Grace, seen those kick some ass in token decks. Go get 'em, bud!

Just a hint if you come looking for help in the future :)


The first thing I would like to add is that you are playing way too much land. In a 60 card deck with a steap mana curve, you probably only want 24-25 lands. Now your deck is currently 64. That's not too bad, but if you could shave it down to 60 that'll be doing yourslef a sall favor. (Consistancy is just lovely.)


Secondly, I can spot a few cards that I either find too bad to play, imo, or doesn't really fit your strategy too well.

Ajani's Mantra and Staff of the Wild Magus fit's your strat reasonably well, but are both really bad overall cards, and they don't help you close out games.

Ajani's Chosen The card is perfectly reasoable as is right now, if not a little too clonky, but if you decide to take my advice on the Mantra's it's probably not playable afterwards.

Felidar Sovereign Awesome as it is, seems like a very unlikely wincondition for you. If you ever get to a point where it would win you the game, you are probably already winnning.

You have a couple more cards, that I'm a bit unhappy with, but are reasonable for the moment being.


Thirdly if you want to play a slower deck, you have to be able to interact.

If you can't answer the things your opponent does from time to time, you are going to lose to a lot of combo decks.


Fourthly: Here are some cards I hink you should look into, priced around the 1$ mark, or less. (If you want that lifegain theme to stick)

Qasali Pridemage Realy powerful card, that happens to be a cat, and can sometimes "interact" with opposing gameplans.

More Ajani's Pridemate - It's a great finisher, if you have some lifegain.

Nyx-Fleece Ram, not the best card in the world, but a good replacement for Ajani's Mantra.

Condemn - Cheap creature removal.

Lone Rider  Flip - Only play this if you really into life gain.

Soul's Attendant / Soul Warden are wuite good with tokens, and Ajani's Pridemate

More Blossoming Sands, fixing mana gaining life.

Blessed Alliance - Everthing goo in this world.

Eidolon of Rhetoric - put this in your sideboard, you wont regret it.
