Maybeboard

A Nethroi Apex of Death EDH Deck

The main win strategy is Aristocrats, and using Nethroi's mutate trigger to take very explosive turns often winning out of nowhere. The deck can also win through several combos mixed into the deck. The main ones being Kitchen finks + Luminous Broodmoth/Path of Discovery/The Great Hedge or Reveillark and karmic guide. Each of these combos allows for infinite(except for Kitchen finks + The Great Hedge which only goes until you run out of cards in your deck) death and etb triggers, which should win the game as long as you have at least 1 pay off for either. It's also possible to just brute force a victory through combat damage after flooding the board with creatures.

Due to Nethroi's ability and the mutate strategy the deck is heavily biased for creatures, them making up more then half the deck. However the deck does not run many mutate creatures, as they have a iffy relation with Nethroi. Though they are very useful for getting another trigger often a single good Nethroi mutate can just end the game. Along with this if they end up in the grave they are useless, since Nethroi will bring them to the field not your hand. Rather then fill the deck with them several good and synergistic ones were selected. The non creatures in the deck all want to interact with them, either getting them back out or benefiting off of them.

The most important part of this deck is sac outlets. Often times without a sac outlet the deck will stagnate and have trouble accomplishing much. Due to Nethroi's bais towards low power creature often you'll have a board of several small creatures that can easily be blocked or there damage ignored, and of course when you have several aristocrats in the mix your opponents won't be keen on killing the fodder. Due to this the deck runs 12 ways of sacrificing creatures. The best three being Phyrexian Altar, Ashnods Altar, and Yawgmoth. The Altar's can allow you to win out of nowhere, letting you sacrifice your board for mana triggering all your effects, then remutating Nethroi onto something thats left to redue to process. Yawgmoth allows you to control the board and fling through your deck with immense card draw.

Obviously this decks biggest flaw is grave hate. Playing against a rest in peace can just shut you down and make it hard to do anything, though not impossible. Since you can still get death and etb triggers off you can still function, its just harder to do anything. The worst scenario is a humility or similar effect. In that situation you kinda just have to hope someone removes it while you sit there with your army of vanilla 1/1's.

Thank you for reading. This is just my personal deck, and my favorite out of all my edh dekcs. This is far from optimized as it is within my personal budget and play-style. The most competitive and cut throat way to play the deck would just be going for full combo which will never be my intention with this deck. It's meant to be strong, but not cEDH. I will probably be changing the list a lot as I am still play testing a lot of this deck and figuring out what I want/need more/less of in it. This is also the first deck I am uploading to Tapped out(I've played magic since Gatecrash and edh since the 2013 precons but have only moved to non paper magic since corona) so hopefully I didn't mess anything up. Thank you for any feedback or opinions on the deck.
