The Gitrog Monster is a card that has 100% earned it's name. The deck, the way it is set up right now, is capable of some pretty disgusting interactions, most of which utilize Splendid Reclamation at some point.

Dakmor Salvage is a key card that is almost irreplacable for the deck. Crucible of Worlds is the next best thing to use if Dakmor Salvage is unavailable and can lead to some very dominant boardstates. Using Centaur Garden or Cabal Pit repeatedly while drawing cards for it is a very good use of a turn, especially if you can set up some of the extra land drop cards like Azusa, Lost but Seeking or Exploration.

Since I am 3 years old and cannot read words, I assumed that The Gitrog Monster allowed you to draw multiple cards off of a single dredge action if multiple lands go into the grave. Same with cards which are discarded at end of turn. The latter actually kind of works, but for different reasons than I thought. Usually, no player gets priority during cleanup step (the phase where the active player discards down to 7). HOWEVER, if any abilities trigger during cleanup, those get put on the stack, all players get priority to react appropriately and after that, another cleanup step begins. What this means is that there's no probable situation where I'll end up with more than 7 cards in hand after cleanup besides having no maximum hand size.

In light of this new information, a couple of cards need to be reevaluated:

Golgari Grave-Troll and his smelly lil' brother Stinkweed Imp only draw me a single card at best. Since I'm already kind of struggling to keep up with mana production and actually want to be a kind of big-mana-y archetype, I'm gonna use those slots for a bit more worthwile acceleration. Thought Vessel and Ulvenwald Hydra seem like they'll fit a lot better into the deck and only do stuff I already want to do, namely search for any land and have lots of cards in hand.

Groundskeeper and Search for Tomorrow once used to be pretty ok in the decklist, but I have since added quite a lot of nonbasic lands and now running out of basics to search for has become quite a common occurrence. Restore may just be a one shot effect, but occasionally my graveyard has more goodies than my library. It's also kind of a graveyard hate since I can just take an opponent's problematic land and keep it on my side of the table, if nothing else. Adding Deathrite Shaman gives me another form of Graveyard hate as well as a turn 1 play I actually still might want to draw into late game.

Instead of Peat Bog I'll add Volrath's Stronghold. My deck is kind of full of taplands and running both Peat Bog and Hickory Woodlot is just too much long-term backlash for short-term gains. I'll also increase the amount of lands by one and add Reliquary Tower, since discarding at end of turn is more of a drawback than I initially thought. I'll cut Realms Uncharted for it, simply because I'm terrible with those kinds of effects.

Grisly Salvage, Avenger of Zendikar and Zombie Infestation are all fine cards, but they just don't really do enough for this deck. Grisly Salvage draws me one card, only let's me select from those five and seems lackluster compared to Grapple with the Past. Interacting with all cards in my graveyard just seems a lot stronger, even if it mills no lands. Zombie Infestation also only draws 1 card and is strictly worse than Call the Bloodline to me. Honestly, Avenger could probably stay in the decklist, but I really don't wanna be the Gaea's Cradle + Avenger of Zendikar guy. That guy's just no fun!

I'll replace those 3 cards with Faerie Macabre for some more surprise graveyard hate I can do without keeping mana open, Centaur Vinecrasher who will hopefully be more impactful now that I should have some more mana available in general and also Berserk. This one is a bit peculiar because it's mostly in the list because I want people to know I COULD play it and force them into unfavorable blocks vs. The Gitrog Monster after they've accumulated a bit of commander damage.

I'll also change Strands of Night back to Phyrexian Reclamation. The drawback is simply too much, even for this deck. I'd much rather pay more mana and still have it next turn! The Reclamation also has the added benefit of making Faerie Macabre a more efficient hate card should the need for that arise.

OUT: Avenger of Zendikar, Golgari Grave-Troll. Stinkweed Imp, Groundskeeper, Search for Tomorrow, Peat Bog, Realms Uncharted, Zombie Infestation, Grisly Salvage, Strands of Night

IN: Berserk, Centaur Vinecrasher, Faerie Macabre, Ulvenwald Hydra, Reliquary Tower, Volrath's Stronghold, Thought Vessel, Restore, Deathrite Shaman, Phyrexian Reclamation
