Maybeboard

My take on the Faerie Godmother of my dreams; I really wanted to play Alela and put a little bit of effort into putting together a level 6 - 7 deck. The deck is loaded with tutors, card draw, deck fixing, mill, and some counters to protect yourself. For the most part, the deck is a solitaire combo deck that is fairly consistent with contingencies should any combo pieces find themselves unwished somehow. This deck was initially brewed up with a bunch of extra cards I had laying around and then it rapidly developed as I sat down and pored over each component.

The deck should have a generally fast start with the ability to churn out a T2 Alela, Artful Provocateur, which opens up the option for a quick faerie beating. With low cost artifacts, Alela should be able to make for some kind of tempo with all of the faerie tokens. The tokens themselves can be used for all kinds of things:

Skullclamp will make them draw cards

Dictate of Erebos will remove other creatures as they populate the board

Phenax, God of Deception will mill the opponents' decks

Either of the altars will provide mana

Anthem effects provided by Alela herself and Etchings of the Chosen and Intangible Virtue will also make each faerie hurt that much more

Overall, I believe this to be a pretty solid deck. Of course it has its flaws and problems, but I didn't exactly intend for the deck to be strong in every regard possible. It does have its scary moments, though.

Ad Nauseam + Angel's Grace + Laboratory Maniac , draw somehow. You know, the sweaty win con everyone running blue uses. This selection of cards is very easy to fish out of the deck with any of the tutors and a couple of mana rocks. This wasn't the initial main win con of the deck, but the mere act of trying to get to Ad Nauseum has gotten me into position to win like this, even a foiled assembly of the combo leads into a strong game state for you with card draw, an extra body, and possibly more tutors for some kind of backup.

There is a plethora of combos that can go infinite in one way or another: most of the hard-hitting combos the deck is equipped with utilize The Reality Chip or Sensei's Divining Top in some manner. Examples of combos that can worm their way out:

Aetherflux Reservoir + Bolas's Citadel + Sensei's Divining Top = Crash Nebula

Ashnod's Altar + Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry = Scramble the Faeries

The Reality Chip + Sensei's Divining Top + Cloud Key + Alela, Artful Provocateur = Information Stupor Highway

And with so many cards with similar effects, it should be fairly flexible and consistent as to how and what you draw into.

Sometimes, you just want to pull out something a little different, maybe not with such a milquetoast win con. There's an option to mill out the entire table, it'll make everything gray-TUH! With how some of the infinite possibilities can work out, especially with Alela triggering on seemingly empty Top casts or Foundry activations, there should be plenty of anti-faeries ready to drain the braincells of anyone still kicking at the table. Using Phenax, God of Deception as your chosen deity will make for a fun way to peer through everyone's decks if you didn't see what they had before. As another potential combo, I've included my first-ever infinite from many years ago as something of a trip down memory (loss) lane.

Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank with the first ability activated will threaten with an alternating stream of damage and mill unless someone can respond with anything at all. Kickstarting the combo with some wily faeries in combat or removal will be enough.

This deck is actually still in the works, as I'd like to eventually hammer out some of the mechanics and strategies, making it flow even smoother and recover from mishaps. I'd also like to really settle into the Fairly Oddparents vibe.

Updates Add

This is the current state of the deck as I have it in paper format. It isn't everything that I originally wanted, but there is a surprising amount of consistency to this deck. If the deck is able to start up early, you can set yourself up for consistent t4-5 infinite loops if left uncontested. There are still some pieces I'd like to add in that are in the maybeboard as of this writing. Hopefully, I can refine this deck even further and make it just a tad bit sweatier than I have it now.
