Mairsil, the Pretender, he never stays in one place for long. Also, the closest thing to a card shapped fidget spinner that you can play in Magic.

So, this is my brew of Mairsil, the Pretender, and it's my first and only Commander deck. I'm proud to say it's a ton of fun, a mix of combo and voltron like The Mimeoplasm, but crazier. I'm still fine tuning the deck, so I update it every now and them.

How to Mairsil

Games go like this:

Early: ramp and tutor until you can cast Mairsil, the Pretender in a way you can protect it from counter spell and also exile or bounce it back to your hand (or even let him take a quick trip Mirror-Mad Phantasm). It's very important that the first thing you exile is capable of making Mairsil, the Pretender ETB again as well as preventing it from dying, as it most of the time can evade removal.

Mid game: start using and abusing all those sweet abilities you are giving Mairsil, the Pretender. If you can combo off, go for it, everyone else need to do a lot just to stop Mairsil, the Pretender and even them, you can try again later. The resilience here is great.

Late game: oh wow, isn't everyone dead yet? Strange. Perhaps you should try one of the combos bellow.

Some combos

To win without commander damage try to give Mairsil, the Pretender the following:
  1. Infinite Turns: Anthroplasm + Sage of Hours . Easy like that!
  2. One Punch Man: Hateflayer + Tree of Perdition (or Spikeshot Elder). If your playgroup is ok with Infect, you can combo like this: Pestilent Souleater + Anthroplasm for 6 + Hateflayer or Spikeshot Elder.
  3. Infinite Mana: Gilded Lotus + Torchling or Anthroplasm + Cinderhaze Wretch + either Quicksilver Elemental or Mirage Mirror. Gilded Lotus + Mirror-Mad Phantasm and a Thousand-Year Elixir (or some other haste enabler) is one of the easiest ways, since this does a better job than Deadeye Navigator (also why I didn't included it in the deck), but be sure to have Elixir of Immortality ready just to avoid milling yourself out (it can be replaced by Laboratory Maniac + Havengul Lich or something like that if you want to win that way). With infinite mana you can Oona, Queen of the Fae and exile all enemy libraries or you can deal infinite damange through Hateflayer at each interaction, etc.
  4. One Sided Board Wipes Every Turn: . If you want to go one step further and really making everybody scoop, add Minion of Leshrac and somekind of untap abilitie for land destruction on each turn as well (as with Infect, I suggest you ask your playgroup if they are okay with land destruction before you start blowing up all their stuff).

Fun choices

One of my pet cards in here is Tim the Enchanter (I love Monty Python). Exile it with Mairsil, the Pretender or just play it with Thousand-Year Elixir out and start turning stuff into 0/1 sheep (the best tribal). Oh and don't let that huge drawback dissued you from playing Tim, because you bounce him back to your hand as you turn things into sheep and THEM you choose to sacrifice him BUT wait, now he's back in your hand so you sac nothing. Isn't it great? Almost as good as Capsize for half the cost, and everybody gets a pretty little sheep for their troubles (I call it a win-win situation).

Time Stop and Glorious End aren't necessary, but definetely add to the fun. I know that Glorious End but if you can win on your next turn, why not!, right?

Taigam, Sidisi's Hand was added for extra value, not for it's activated ability (probably the worst around here). Nin, the Pain Artist is powerful in the sense that besides being a very interesting political tool (if you're not playing 1v1, that's), it can either draw you lots of cards or, with infinite mana, deck our opponent.

Last but not least

I don't have very expensive cards in general, so be free to fix the mana base as you like, as well as replacing counter spells and things like that for better stuff.

Cards in the maybe board can be better than some of my main options but I don't have any of them right now, yet strongly recommend some.

In the sideboard are cards that I might move to the main if I feel it's a good idea. It all depends on the meta.

And please, let me know your thoughts on this brew of mine, and don't forget to upvote if you like!
