Patron of the Valiant

Creature — Angel

Flying

When Patron of the Valiant enters the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control with a +1/+1 counter on it.

multimedia on Giada, font of hope budget …

Hey, build your deck here at TappedOut and link to it? Linking to your deck at Moxfield while asking for help here is disrespectful.

Sanctuary Warden is a good budget Angel, for it's low price there aren't many other six drop Angels that are better. Bruna is not worth adding, you can get better reanimation with Karmic Guide or Emeria Shepherd.

Well of Lost Dreams is reliable draw when your Commander can gain life, but it loses a lot of effectiveness when it can't. When your Commander has flying, playing lot of other fliers and you want to be attacking than Mask of Memory can be nice budget repeatable draw.

Palace Jailer and/or Court of Grace can be powerful effects when you can defend to keep the monarch. The monarch is helpful for repeatable draw in mono white. Angels are good defenders, Giada gives them high toughness and there's many budget vigilance sources: Thraben Watcher, Loyal Unicorn. These could replace Seraph of Dawn, Stalwart Valkyrie, Light of the Legion

Consider finding room/budget for Sephara, Sky's Blade and Serra's Emissary? Either one of these Angels can enable attacking Angels to win. If matching price is a concern for cuts then they're better than Youthful Valkyrie or Righteous Valkyrie.

Angel tribe as a lot of budget Angels who are also removal sources. Get more value out of Angels other than attacking effects? These could replace Angel of the Dawn, Baneslayer Angel, Patron of the Valiant.

I would like to suggest Unbreakable Formation to replace Make a Stand if you typically use this spell for attacking. It also has some synergy with cards like Patron of the Valiant.

peter20percent your brother is right, some targeted removal isn't the worst idea. Some of my favorites in mono-white are Path to Exile , Swords to Plowshares , Generous Gift , and Revoke Existence . Brave the Elements is also a fun little combat trick you could utilize. As far as cutting cards, I'd take out Coat of Arms , Knight Exemplar , Patron of the Valiant , Strongarm Monk , and possibly Touch of the Eternal . You don't have a centralized creature type enough to make Coat effective, plus is can be detrimental against other tribal decks. Same concept with the Exemplar, you're just not using enough Knights to make her worthwhile. Patron and Strongarm are just not the most effective to the strategy you're building. And Touch is a really risky card. When it works it's awesome, but I see it backfire more often than not. I'd also consider swapping out Mass Calcify for Day of Judgment or Cleansing Nova . Mass calcify is great, but it's a really high drop and you might be going up against decks that contain white creatures, nullifying your advantage. DoJ is cheaper and is great for if you're getting overwhelmed and need to clear the board, and Nova is great utility. Lastly, I'd consider swapping Angel of Invention for Akroma, Angel of Wrath , since you seem to be going for cards with word jumbles. Hopefully this helps!

Collective Effort could be nifty with Patron of the Valiant . I would try it in place of Divine Verdict perhaps.

I hate it already! ;)

Looks like you've got most of the key pieces, but here's a few more for your Maybeboard:

- Abzan Battle Priest (also Mer-Ek Nightblade and Crowned Ceratok)

- Gyre Sage

- Mikaeus, the Lunarch

- Pir, Imaginative Rascal

- Patron of the Valiant (and/or Renegade Krasis)

Death's Presence and Druidic Satchel are both pretty great for this deck. Oh, and don't forget about Bone Splinters!

OK - there are lots more, but hopefully that's complicated things sufficiently for you. Enjoy!

No problem! And yes, putting Rafiq in the 99 was what I meant, not as the commander.

I couldn't really give any suggestions (research cards online) earlier, but now I can help more.

Proliferate lets you put 1 more counter on any number of counters on the battlefield, so if you were to proliferate, and you have 5 creatures with +1/+1 counters on them, you can add one more to each of them, and up a loyalty counter on a planeswalker, or an experience counter if you have it. Just any kind of counter. It's an amazing ability to have, and blue has it the most I believe (if not it's a close 2nd).

Good cards to consider for proliferating might be:

Thrummingbird is not bad. It has flying so it'll be harder to get from damaging players and proliferating

Contagion Engine is a MUST for a proliferators. You proliferate TWICE, and weaken your opponent's creatures, (which fun fact you can proliferate those as well). Has kind of an expensive cost at first, but after a bit in the game, four mana to up all your counters, then up them AGAIN will be a walk in the ballpark, especially since most the cards in this deck are 5 or less mana.

Contagion Clasp is the diet sugar-free version of the above, of course its much cheaper, but the ability is the same cost, and only proliferates once. Still not a bad card though.

Steady Progress is a pretty simple instant, and helps for card draw.

Finally, this may not be TOO useful, but is something to think about, Throne of Geth will let you proliferate, HOWEVER saccing the artifacts you have isn't too good of an idea, but that's up to you. At the very least, you could sacrifice the Throne itself to proliferate just once, maybe sac Sol Ring once you have tons of mana? That's up to you.

There are a few other cards which proliferate, but they deal Infect damage. Thankfully you can proliferate the poison counters they give to players and the -1/-1 counters they put on creatures, but it's been my experience playing with Infect decks that it's often better to make Infect the absolute focus of a deck that has it, Reason being that the creatures built around Infect are designed to be very fast, Infect decks are usually fast aggro decks

Good cards for putting counters on creatures might be

Lifecrafter's Gift you can never go wrong with this card, it's almost like proliferate too.Scale Blessing Pretty much the same as above.Patron of the Valiant is like those two almost proliferate cards above, except it's a creature with flying, which means you can put counters on it too!!

Titania's Boon Easy way to get the proliferate train started.

Mikaeus, the Lunarch is slowgoing, and in danger of getting targeted with an instant or sorcery, but you still have counters to throw around.

Vastwood Hydra if you plan on having the gobs of mana for it, or at least enough to put 1 counter on each other creature once it inevitably dies.

Sunbringer's Touch is okay for the first part, but it's mostly for that juicy trample effect that it'd shine in this deck.

Ainok Bond-Kin Tuskguard Captain Crowned CeratokAbzan Battle PriestAbzan Falconer these will synergize the hell outta this deck, in my humble opinion.

Renegade Krasis is another good ol' counter putter.

Celestial Ancient will be useful, with those 12 or something enchantments in your deck.

Inspiring Call is also good for both synergy and card draw.

These are angels you could add

Angel of Finality

Emeria Angel

Gisela, the Broken Blade

Stoic Angel

Sublime Archangel

Voice of All

Archangel of Thune

Baneslayer Angel

Blinding Angel

Karmic Guide

Radiant, Archangel

Shattered Angel

Sigarda, Heron's Grace

Sigarda, Host of Herons

Admonition Angel

Pristine Angel

Angel of Serenity

Angel of the Dire Hour

Akroma, Angel of Wrath

Empyrial Archangel

Reya Dawnbringer

I think you could take out Emancipation Angel, Illusory Angel, Guardian Seraph, Indomitable Archangel, Lightkeeper of Emeria, Malach of the Dawn, Seraph of Dawn, Avenging Angel, Herald of the Host, Patron of the Valiant, Dawnbreak Reclaimer, Archangel, Angel of Salvation

I also think you could cut some lands, 38 is a good number. Bant Panorama, Seaside Citadel are good to add back in

Harsh Mercy seems good as well

you have very little enter the battlefield effects, maybe add Torpor Orb or Hushwing Gryff

It seems like your heavy hitters are 4 mana and up, so i think your ramp should cost less than 4. This way you're not decieding betweenn casting an angel or ramping for other angels. Maybe cut Explosive Vegetation for Rampant Growth. you could cut Belbe's Portal and Quicksilver Amulet for that same reasoning. You could add Simic Signet, Selesnya Signet and Azorius Signet for more ramp as well

Maybe cut Caged Sun for Mirari's Wake.

I think you need some card draw as well. maybe Rhystic Study or Distant Melody, Zendikar Resurgent

You could run some anthems to pump your team as well, I think Door of Destinies could be really good in this type of deck

Lurking Predators is the Quicksilver Amulet type effect you want i think. maybe take out Selvala's Stampede for it?

Patron of the Valiant can currently only hit Herald of War, a renowned Topan Freeblade, and something that's survived a turn with Ring of Thune (the last of which I still think is too slow to be worthwhile). This means that the average result of the Patron's ability will be very meager. And even in decks like G/W outlast that can maximize +1/+1 counters, the angel ends up not doing enough for its cost. Seraph of the Masses is actually pretty similar. It requires a lot of creatures/tokens to be viable, and that's something this deck doesn't have a ton of. And again, even in the most creature heavy decks, the Seraph is unlikely to make the cut. The reason you'll only really see cards like these in commander is that they are too high-cost, low-impact for modern. Modern is a pretty fast format, even at most casual levels, so you usually don't want too many big cards unless you have excellent ramp or those cards are going to win you the game. So Serra Angel and Aegis Angel could be too heavy as well. Herald of War and Sigarda, Heron's Grace are cards that represent the other side of that coin to me. The first offers ramp for other big stuff and the second is a game-winning card if it sticks. If I was going to make a competitive human/angel deck, I'd run mostly humans with just a few angels on the top end to close out the game. I'm actually gonna whip up a first draft version tonight. I'll post it here when It's done so you can see my thought process at least.
