Flying, vigilance

Players can't untap more than one creature during their untap steps.

I would love to run Stoic Angel as a commander for that Angel tribal control deck.

Green for ramp, blue for tapping creatures and white for angels and vigilance ability

Stoic Angel is an awesome card. Smoke is one of those crazy sleeper powerhouses that can actually shut a whole board state down. I wished red had more ramp and reliable card draw. White has never been weak. People just never saw the value because they get spoiled with black, blue, and green having ramp and card draw so easily. I think it's because most play groups truly hate control decks (which white excels at). Swords to Plowshares is still one of the single best cards in magic if you ask me.

When designing the mono red Planeswalkers and this Enchantment deck it became quite evident red is the weakest color in EDH. For years people complained it was white but there has been a ton of good draw and ramp printed in recent years.

Red has my favorite tutor in the game though Gamble.

And Smoke is an Exalted all-star even though that's a Bant mechanic! Stoic Angel was the updated correction.

I know this question might seem dumb, and rather pointless, but it's something Ive always struggled with a lot , probably due to my GAD (general anxiety disorder).

If you look at my lists, they are mostly janky stuff that a lot of people don't even want to play with, such as my Bant deck built around Stoic Angel and my 4C Dragons (which is unusual since most lists gravitate towards monored), specially my most beloved list, Monoblack Infect.

However, if I want to play something popular I feel the need to adapt it in order to play it, otherwise I feel like I'm prohibited to play. As example of this is my Korvold deck. Everyone knows he's incredibly busted, but he also seems like a very fun commander. The way I used to convince myself to play him was to build a deck with just pauper legal (have been printed as a common at least once) cards. Another example was Mill. I had a list I was working on, way before Eldraine and Zendikar Resurgent, but as soon as Mill became a somewhat viable strategy, I completely lost interest in the strategy and never tried building this archetype, casual or not.

I don't know if I looking for advices exactly. I just want to hear people's opinions on the matter and if anyone else goes through this.

Peoyogon, I still have to learn how to not care so seriously about new releases. I've made two lists on Scryfall of jank cards that people literally forgot about. I want to make decks for as many of them as I can. But even when I make those decks, such as my Stoic Angel deck, I end up going back to paying attention to new releases since there's almost always at least a single card I want to consider for the deck. It's definitely something I need to work on.

I've never been a Spike myself, and there's a single deck I want to turn competitive, that being my Monoblack Infect. Otherwise I mainly want to build janky stuff to play with my friends on the kitchen table. Despite this, I still tend to demand too much o myself when brewing. Thanks for your words again.

plakjekaas, if MTG has helped you in any way then that's good! That's the kind of experience I wanted to see people sharing here. As for myself, I had the same experience as you. Whenever I lost, I would fume like crazy, specially when playing videogames. Today it's much better. I've learned to take a break and calm down myself if any game os stressing me because I'm not winning. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Cool concept but I feel like having 7 mana rocks is a big nonbo with Stoic Angel.

I actually made an entire deck around this concept that works surprisingly well. Steve Argyle is a particularly great resource for this topic. In addition to Liliana of the Veil and Chosen of Markov  Flip, he's also done Deadly Allure , Guul Draz Vampire , Naya Battlemage , and Night Revelers . Other notable artists are Jason Chan ( Deathpact Angel , Fires of Undeath , Kiora, Master of the Depths , Mayael the Anima , Maul Splicer , Treasured Find ) and Volkan Baga ( Elspeth, Knight-Errant , Korozda Gorgon , Stoic Angel , Student of Warfare ). I ended up going with vampires + knights and some other cards I included are Hero of Bladehold , Knight Exemplar , Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts , Elenda, the Dusk Rose , and possibly the most ridiculous piece of Magic art ever created: Soul Collector . Some cards that came close to making the cut are Angel of Despair , Bloodflow Connoisseur , Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief , Knight of Dusk , Magister of Worth , Avacyn, Angel of Hope , Vampire Hexmage , and Veteran Cavalier .

Other cards that I like (sorted by type) include Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch , Lyzolda, the Blood Witch , Kemba, Kha Regent , Sunspear Shikari , Elvish Champion , Gaea's Herald , Quirion Dryad , Nimbus Naiad , Dreamborn Muse , Mistral Singer , Shipwreck Singer , Siren of the Fanged Coast , Akroma, Angel of Wrath , Archangel of Strife , Basandra, Battle Seraph , Razia, Boros Archangel , and Ire Shaman . Looking at this list now, it's clear I've spent far too much time researching this subject.

Thanks YourNeighborhoodGhost!

I'm running Stoic Angel and Dueling Grounds in the same functional space as Silent Arbiter. Between those cards and tutors I've been getting away with a defensive strategy so far. I might add it if I keep being put on the defense.
