Heya, welcome to my very first attempt to build a deck around Kalamax, the Stormsire.

What I want to do is pretty simple: copying mostly instant spells and creating value by ramping, drawing tons of cards and finally win.

To archive that I have cards that let me browse through my deck faster and drawing cards like: Brainstorm, Opt, Impulse, Dig Through Time, Frantic Search, Chemister's Insight or Narset, Parter of Veils.

Then of course I have decent ramp for this deck since most if it is instant speed like: Growth Spiral, Manamorphose, Harrow or Natural Connection. This aren't ramp but Wilderness Reclamation and Windborn Muse let me untap lands after my turn (Windborn Muse also on every players upkeep) which is always usefull if you play a lot of instant speed.

So far for the value I get by copying those with either Kalamax or one of the following spells for even more copies to make Kalamax grow bigger and bigger sooner or later (hopefully sooner than later): Dualcaster Mage, Melek, Izzet Paragon, Increasing Vengeance, Narset's Reversal, Doublecast, Twincast, Expansion / Explosion, Double Vision, Swarm Intelligence, Thousand-Year Storm and Ral, Storm Conduit.

But what to do now with all the instants and copies? Sure card draw and ramp are fine but the last planeswalker mentioned leads me to my next cathegory - ways to effectivly hurt your opponents by casting or copying: Ral, Storm Conduit let's you copy spells with his -2 ability but also deals 1 damage to target opponent when casting or copying(!) spells. Sadly the other cards only trigger for the cast since copies are not concidered as casts. However those cards are: Shark Typhoon, Young Pyromancer, Guttersnipe, Talrand, Sky Summoner or Melek, Izzet Paragon

In addition Kalamax will grow bigger and bigger with every copy you create which can be utilized for either for big strikes (which will tap him, which is what we need to be able to copy our first spell each turn) or can be used to deal massive damage with spells like Soul's Fire or Chandra's Ignition.

The last one is part of one of the 3 inifinite combos included in this deck:

1) Twincast + Chandra's Ignition (idealy 7 mana)

  1. Make sure your next spell will be copied
  2. Make sure there's a spell on the stack
  3. Cast Twincast targeting that spell on the stack
  4. Its copy targets the original Twincast -> you copy it infinite times -> Kalamax will grow infinitly big
  5. Cast Chandra's Ignition

2) Chord of Calling into Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Pestermite (8 mana or less)

  1. Make sure your next spell will be copied
  2. Cast Chord if Calling with X=5
  3. Surch for Kiki-Jiki and Pestermite (one creature for the original and one for the copy)
  4. Tap Kiki-Jiki to create a hasty token of Pestermite -> untap Kiki-Jiki with it -> repeate that infinite times fo get infinite hasty tokens with flying
  5. Attack!

3)Ral, Storm Conduit + Doublecast + any other copy spell (4-8 mana)

  1. Make sure Ral is out. If not -> cast him
  2. Use Ral's -2 ability
  3. Cast Doublecast which gets copied by Ral's ability
  4. Cast any other copy spell like Expansion / Explosion, Twincast or Narset's Reversal
  5. Let the remaining copy of Doublecast copy the spell
  6. The spell's copy copies the original -> do that infinite times -> Ral will ping your opponents to death

Hope this could help getting a better gist of the deck and my first intention. Sure you could do the same with a lot of other spellslinger decks but this one has a dinosaur and let's be honest - everything is better with dinosurs!

Feel free to tell me if I did any mistakes (that copy stuff is some heavy shit if you're not into it very much, yet @.@) or tell me your opinions and suggestions regarding the decklist. The cards on the sideboard are cards I took out when I had to cut cards but wanted them to save them as a little reminder.
