Maybeboard

Right now, this list is in progress as I try to find what would work best and where exactly to take the deck. This deck can lean into two particular strategies that I think are interesting (self-mill and counters). The deck obviously starts with good landfall cards and lots of ramp. From there it is important to include cards that allow you to sacrifice and discard lands to get triggers for Slogurk, the Overslime. Then some removal, interaction, protection, and lands. This part is the same for the two strategies I'm thinking of, but they differ in how they play after that. The first strategy that I think will be effective is to lean more heavily into self-mill as Slogurk triggers off of lands entering the graveyard from anywhere. Not only will this make Slogurk huge, but it also allows you to play cards like Thassa's Oracle and Laboratory Maniac as a win condition as you look to mill as much of your library as possible which works well in addition to drawing lots of cards from the landfall package. This self-mill strategy includes cards like Mesmeric Orb, Hermit Druid, Hedron Crab, and Fraying Sanity. The second strategy that I think is interesting is to lean more heavily into +1/+1 counters as Slogurk, the Overslime is already getting big with +1/+1 triggers off of lands in graveyards, this strategy makes him even bigger. By leaning into counters with cards like Branching Evolution, Hardened Scales, The Ozolith, Evolution Sage, Retreat to Kazandu, and Roaring Earth, this allows you to run Simic Ascendency as a win condition and play the deck as more of a voltron style gameplan (which could also mean that you should run equipment and auras). I have also thought about playing a mix between these two strategies to have self-mill as a dominate strategy (with Thassa's Oracle and Laboratory Maniac as win conditions) and counters as a backup (with Simic Ascendency and commander damage as win conditions) or vice versa. However, I am still playing with a way to make both work or find which strategy I enjoy more and deem more effective. Currently, this list is built with what I believe to be a good self-mill strategy. Also currently running a decent amount of interaction, removal and protection (and two board wipes), after playtesting more I may consider cutting back on the current amount to make more room for the strategy or ramp. The maybe board contains cards that I am currently playing with and testing out as well as cards to lean into a counters strategy. Please feel free to leave any comments, criticisms, improvements, etc., would be appreciated.

Note: There are probably better cards to put in here instead of Biowaste Blob, but the card is cool so I'm running it anyway.
