Animar, Soul of Elements

Commander / EDH*

AlarmedNine

With the guidance of JMCraig and bunbunfriedrice, this is my variant of our beloved elemental. If anyone has any questions or comments, please see JMCraig's list here . There is a plethora of information there. Just tag me and I'll do my due diligence to respond.

The deck wins by resolving Ancestral Statue with enough counters on Animar, and shoot the table with Purphoros, God of the Forge or Walking Ballista.

Cloudstone Curio provides an alternative engine where with just 1-3 counters to generate infinite draws or mana.

Imperial Recruiter also creates an infinite line for a Ballista kill.

All these make Animar infinite/infinite, as well.

For those of you wondering how do I win with Imperial Recruiter here is a little spice I cannot take credit for:

Prerequisites: Animar Animar (3 counters), Imperial Recruiter , RGUUU in untapped lands.

Cast Imperial Recruiter tutoring Phyrexian Metamorph.

Cast Phyrexian Metamorph copying Imperial Recruiter tutoring Fierce Empath.

Cast Fierce Empath tutoring Hoverguard Sweepers.

Cast Hoverguard Sweepers bouncing itself and Phyrexian Metamorph.

Re-cast Phyrexian Metamorph copying Imperial Recruiter tutoring Peregrine Drake this time.

Cast Peregrine Drake untapping your lands.

Cast Hoverguard Sweepers bouncing itself and Peregrine Drake repeatedly for infinite mana.

You may now bounce and re-cast Imperial Recruiter and Fierce Empath to tutor and cast whatever you want.

Updates Add

Spellseeker > Rishkar, Peema Renegade: Such a great card, gets all of our spells outside of Force of Will. Taking Rishkar's spot at the moment. Just not pulling his weight atm. Still a fine card to use if you are looking to be fast.

Dark-Dweller Oracle > Trophy Mage: About time we got another engine. This guy is capable of digging deep mid to late game. Not quite the dead draw as much as Trophy Mage can be.

Will be working the mana base soon. Utility lands aren't as useful now.

Crop Rotation > Mox Amber. The Package for Crop Rotation has been dropped, so I no longer need Crop Rotation. Mox Amber is a nice addition for a bit of speed. It makes all of our colors, so it makes the future addition of Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker much easier to cast.
