General: Melek, Izzet Paragon

I love Izzet. The tactfully, mad, nonsensical, brilliance just appeals to me.

The focus here of course revolves around using Melek's ability to copy good spells. Now when I say good spells, I dont just necessarily mean expensive spells - I mean cost effective, good, fun spells. Also it should be taken into consideration that copying the spell should be relevant. So Ive strayed away from some cards with mechanics that conflict with this (Kickers). What Ive decided to focus on are a lot of spells that:

  1. Steal things and create copies - Bribery and Cackling Counterpart

  2. Copy spells Reverberate and Twincast

  3. Extra turns Time Warp and Beacon of Tomorrows

  4. X cost spells Epic Experiment and Red Sun's Zenith

Ive also included a lot of cards that will allow me to scry, or place cards from my hand onto the top of my deck, thus having better control of Meleks nifty ability.

Some other cards of note:

Jhoira of the Ghitu Inevitably at times I will have cards in my hand that are too high of a casting cost to cast. Shell allow me to keep this scenario from being too painful.

Galvanoth I think, perhaps, the coolest combo in the deck with Melek. I heard you like free spells, so we gave you a free spell and a copy for free so you can be obnoxious.

Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind Hes a dragon. Rawr.

I will not be adding a Jace, the Mind Sculptor unless I find one in my binder one day. (Oh please baby Jesus)

Im still trying to conceptualize some of the other mechanics that might fit in here well. If anyone has thoughts or brilliant revelations, please feel free to share them.

Keep calm and flip the table.

Updates Add

Removed:

Omniscience - Too big of a drop.

Thought Reflection - Too big of a drop, Not as useful as I had anticipated.

Increasing Vengeance - Only copies my spells.

Wild Ricochet - Cool card, but ultimately too circumstantial.

Cast Through Time - Doesn't really work well with Melek.

Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius - Not as good as the better Niv.

Epic Experiment - Found myself burning through X cards and high drop spells. Not as useful as I had anticipated.

Cryptic Annelid - Needed to drop more creatures. The scry works well, but after that he's just a blocker.

Added:

Library of Leng - will help me get what I need onto the top of my deck. Also works really well with Nivix Guildmage Mercurial Chemister Desolate Lighthouse.

Trinket Mage - Can pull artifact that I need. Sensei's Divining Top is bread and butter in this deck.
