The Scarab God a Blue/Black EDH deck with zombie tribal synergy and a mill subtheme. Swarm your opponents with zombie tokens or take it slow by controlling the board while draining your opponent's life and milling them. This commander is very versatile as he drains your opponents' life away without even attacking, plays your opponents' biggest threats against them and more importantly, eludes the commander tax.

Key Cards:

1) Paradox Haze - Enchant yourself to trigger The Scarab God's first ability twice to drain your opponent's life and twice the scry action. It Triggers Endless Ranks of the Dead twice as well.

2) Mindcrank - Mills your opponent during upkeep if your commander is in play, to bolster your army with more zombies from your opponent's graveyard.

3) Training Grounds - Makes The Scarab God's second ability cheaper, costing only UB for each target.

4) Gravecrawler - Combo-enabler.

Combos:

1) Gravecrawler + Diregraf Captain/Plague Belcher/ Vengeful Dead + Phyrexian Altar = Infinite Life loss. (3)

2) Relentless Dead + Phyrexian Altar + Rooftop Storm + Diregraf Captain/Plague Belcher/ Vengeful Dead = Infinite Life Loss. (4)

3) Gravecrawler + Diregraf Colossus + Phyrexian Altar = Infinite Zombie Tokens. (3)

4) Relentless Dead + Phyrexian Altar + Rooftop Storm + Diregraf Collossus = Infinite Zombie Tokens. (4)

5) Gravecrawler + Noxious Ghoul + Phyrexian Altar = One-sided Toxic Deluge. (3)

6) Gravecrawler + Rooftop Storm + Any Zombie + Phyrexian Altar / Ashnod's Altar/ Altar of Dementia = Infinite Mana / Infinite Mill. (4)

Notable Additions/Replacements:

1) Gempalm Polluter - Combos with Volrath's Stronghold and Unholy Grotto . You can cycle Gempalm Polluter then respond with Volrath's Stronghold or Unholy Grotto to draw him again and finish someone off if you have a ton of zombies on board.

2) Graveborn Muse - For ultra-fast card draw. Make sure you have a sac outlet though.

3) Shepherd of Rot - Kills your opponents fast when you go aggro.

4) Cards for graveyard recursion such as Gisa and Geralf, Gravespawn Sovereign, Phyrexian Delver, Gravedigger, Ghoulraiser , Possessed Skaab, Balthor the Defiled , Cruel Revival and Patriarch's Bidding.

5) Other zombies with ETB effects such as:

Skinrender - Removal on a stick.

Sedraxis Alchemist - Bounce on a stick.

Drunau Corpse Trawler - Produces a 2/2 token whenever it comes into play and gives deathtouch to your zombies.

5) Graveyard Matters cards like Soulless One , Wight of Precinct Six, Liliana's Elite and Unbreathing Horde. You can dump them off on your Altar of Dementia when they no longer serve their purpose. When you go the mill route, you can add Consuming Aberration and Phenax, God of Deception. Great value cards though they are non-zombies.

6) Creatures for evasion such as Wonder and Zombie Trailblazer .

7) For 1v1, you may want to change the higher costed creatures to plenty of 1-3 cmc creatures with a lot of counterspells and spot removals.
