cEDH Lootboxing card list Primer

Unknown* Competitive Multiplayer

cEDH_TV

This is a cEDH strategy list. The strategy is looting away situational cards to find better situational cards for the current matchup situation. Merfolk Looter has the ability to draw and then discard a card. Tossing away cards that won't be good in this matchup, but drawing into cards that will be great in this matchup. The idea is to have a deck that can go up against a lot of different match-ups and adapts. Tutors like Demonic Tutor play an important role in this. But I am looking at cards that can swap out a card for other cards.

A good example of a cEDH card that is great in most matchups is Carpet of Flowers . But if no one is playing Island , Carpet of Flowers don't do anything. Most players take the risk of playing carpet of flowers because Island is a quite common color to play. But this playstyle doesn't take that risk. And can also play other risky cards that might not do anything, but also might do amazing. A good example of that is Compost . But once these Situational cards don't do anything in the matchup. Toss them away.

One really important thing I have to meantion. Your Tool/situational card have to have a big impact in the game. It needs to be a game changer. Otherwhise it is better to just play good stuff cards in general. There is a lot of cards that are avilable that are good vs the great majority of cEDH decks out there. So when you are thinking about including a Tool card you need to think about what it could achive. Is it likly it is going to achive that. And when it dose how impactfull will that be? If the impact isen't that amazing. Don't includ it.

Seedtime

So the Time Walk is so good its banned. This is close to that card. In general I think this card would quite easy achieve its condition. But it could be a dead card if you don't go up vs any blue players. Then just throw it away with any looter.

Scald

This one took a lot of thinking. In general it isen't that great. But mono blue is always popular so I decided to includ the card. It works decent vs dual color decks like or . Those are ussaly more focused on the blue Island s. Vs Scald dosen't do that much becous green is ussaly a bigger color in those decks. Also if your opponents has a lot of artifact this card won't do that much. But Baral, Chief of Compliance will complain a lot!

Going back to merfolk looter. The card isn't good. It is the name giver for looting that is for sure. But I wanna have better looters. Looters that do something. I guess Jace, Vryn's Prodigy   is my best example of this. a 0/2 is better than a 1/1. Also, it flips into a planeswalker that can do some more value cool stuff. And that is what I am looking for. My list will contain looters that have a bonus function besids being a looter. Otherwhise we might as well play more tutors. We should still play Demonic Tutor in our deck. Tutors are the ultimat toolbox cards. But with this Lootboxing we have looters with good/decent abilitys besides this adaptation toolboxing capacity.

What I am trying to say is this. Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  // Jace, Telepath Unbound is both Merfolk Looter and Snapcaster Mage in one card.

Dack Fayden

A great looter! And a great utility/interactiv ability. You can steal an artifact with him the first thing you do. That is good. You might steal more if he sits there and no one killes him.

Arcane Artisan

This is a great ability card drawing grindy ability. Yes we throw away stuff we don't need and we get something of value in return. This demands that your build contains some ammount of creatures to make it function well.

Glint-Horn Buccaneer

This card isen't really that good. Burning your opponents slowly ... I don't know. But if you have a groupslug deck and your going for this strat, then this is card for you I guess.

Mirrodin Besieged

This is a great looter in my opinion. I think you can build a deck around this card. A deck that goes with this loot boxing game plan and wins the game from various ways using the grave. getting 15 artifacts down in your tomb place isn't impossible. 15 artifacts is a lot but it is possible.

Heading into this strategy usually leads into including something I will call flashbacks and gravy eaters. Cards that do well with synergy to the grave. My best example of this is Deep Analysis a card that wishes to be discarded to be cast at a better mana cost from the grave. But also Grim Lavamancer or Dig Through Time two cards that want to exploit a big grave. Grim Lavamancer is also a situational card I guess. It is great sometimes but useless in many games.

I decided to show some ideal commanders for this concept. I think Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix is a great commander for this strategy because of the amount of card draw we can do in on turn.

Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion

This is a looter. But you could play this looter as your commander and always have accses to looting. Or you play this minatour inside your deck. A good part with this creature is that he also gives you mana.

Mirrodin Besieged

This is both a looter and a way to win the game. I really like this card. Its great for a lootboxing deck.

Necrotic Ooze

Discard all the combo pieces you need for your ooze. Then eventuly when you draw into it cast the black ugly mass and win. You could include all the typical Necrotic Ooze cards like Survival of the Fittest and Fauna Shaman . Those cards are great for Lootboxing decks anyways.

Razaketh, the Foulblooded and Reanimate

Discard this big demon or any other big mega godzila creature. Then draw into any form of Animate Dead spell and bring the big monster into play. This draw discard play style is a great pathway for this kind of gameplan.

Mizzix's Mastery

Fill your grave with nasty spells. Boom. Cast them all. There is a lot of possible spell concepts you can go for with this idea.

Glint-Horn Buccaneer

I decided to add this card here as a possible win con. I don't think it will be that good. But if it is possible to build a groupslug deck where you can discard storm this is a way to win. Or one card that will help you get there.

All cEDH TV decks

I have a deck folder for all my decks I have made if you wanna look around for other ideas. I play close to every commander and strange gameplan. So there is a bunch of different decks in that folder. I have other more organized smaller folders of specific concepts too. But this folder simply contain everything I have ever made. Its a good place if you only wish to scroll around for inspiration.

Najeela decks

Five colored warrior boss! The blade lady is by fare my favorit commander. You can build so many different decks with here that I have a bunch. In this folder you will find all my Najeela decks I have. But you will also find my Najeela Primer. Wihch isen't a deck but an artical about her. Mostly what cards to play and not to play.
