Personally, I think a different partner pair would be easier to work with and keep the deck much the same. Prava of the Steel Legion and Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix would be my suggestion.

Anyways, Echoing Equation is a card I recommend as a finisher. It is a lot of fun with populate effects, as well.

So I want to build a not-white Chaos deck for EDH. My commander options are Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder (who has a reputation for being a combo deck that can win with one hit, so opponents are not going to let me poke them), Vial Smasher the Fierce // Thrasios, Triton Hero (which just feels bad because opponents will expect a high-power deck) and Vial Smasher the Fierce // Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix (which has one commander doing next to nothing for the deck). So the challenge: Make a commander, with partner, that feels Simic, is not busted, and would work in a chaos themed deck (it does not have to be chaotic itself, but bonus points if it is.)

My first built-from-scratch deck was a Sedris, the Traitor King deck, and I kept it until finally retiring it earlier this year (I think I had it for about 9 years).

When Commander Legends came out, Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist caught my eye. Scouts for the Empyrean Squadron is the deck I ended up with.

Ardenn is absolutely worth building around. Maybe try partnering him with Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix or Silas Renn, Seeker Adept .

The deck packs some chaos, a dose of potency and tons of fun by marrying the partner commanders - Krark, the Thumbless and Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix !

Krark and Kydele is not a popular pairing with only 13 other decks on TappedOut and 21 decks on EDHREC as at 25/2/2021 but I absolutely love the chemistry between them!

The deck mainly aims to draw lots of cards using cantrips and wheels, repeatedly untap Kydele to generate heaps of mana, generate extra value by copying the spells using Krark, and assemble our winning combo and storm off to victory!!

Looking forward to +1, suggestions and constructive comments. Thank you!

lonesentinel Thanks for the suggestions!

Whirlpool Warrior is awesome in the deck as he allow us to wheel twice for . Being able to use Geistblast 's copy ability from the graveyard is actually great due to all the wheel effects we are running, many which requires us to discard our hand. Both cards are able to get around Krark, the Thumbless 's coin flipping ability, and we need that at crucial times with the fear that the spell may be returned to our hand due to losing a coin flip.

Jeska's Will and Birgi, God of Storytelling  Flip are good! I'll throw them in and see how they perform. Not sure if I've room for Mana Geyser and Reiterate though. I don't need the Buyback ability that much cause copying spell is more of an enabler rather than a core mechanic for the deck (Wheeling and Kydele's mana ability is).

Sakashima of a Thousand Faces is a popular partner with Krark, the Thumbless . I'm trying to explore quirky and unorthodox variants which led me to Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix . I initially ran Sakashima in my 99 but took him out as I feel he's a "win more" card.

I'm in two minds about Ignite Memories vs Grapeshot . The deck doesn't have infinite combos so I'm not sure if I'm able to generate sufficient storm counts in 1 turn to kill off all 3 opponents using Grapeshot , thus my preference for Ignite Memories instead. The is not an issue as Kydele can generate heaps of so I'm only worried about the .

I'll KIV Bala Ged Recovery and can add it in if I need more recursion. Currently, Noxious Revival and Past in Flames , etc would suffice.

Thrill of Possibility and Cathartic Reunion are good card draws for red but they both require discarding cards as additional cost. This can be detrimental to us if Krark is onboard and we fail the coin flip.

I've never considered Expedite but now that you mentioned, it looks interesting as a cantrip and can give Kydele haste when I summon her. The deck badly needs colored mana so I avoid having too many lands that procudes only in the deck.

ShaDoWz_6677 I've opted to take a more unconventional approach from the regular storm decks as you can see =)

You're absolutely right that Prismite and gang, being bodies, are more vulnerable but they're the only cards I can work with at the moment that allows conversion of to colored mana at a reasonable rate. Do let me know if you come across better alternatives that gets the job done! I've included Chromatic Orrery and Mycosynth Lattice as well. Prismatic Lens will not work as it is a one time effect that requires tapping.

Adding all the mana rocks and artifact related cards to the deck to fuel the Dramatic Scepter strategy, would deviate much from my original intent of making a Spellslinger based combo deck helmed by Krark, the Thumbless , that is both fun to pilot and yet casual enough for my meta.

I've always like to take the path less travelled, which explains my choice of Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix as the partner commander here. I purposely avoided Sakashima of a Thousand Faces cause it is a popular choice and there're already plenty such decks out there (including 1 in my regular play group).

ShaDoWz_6677 Thank you for your upvote and suggestions!!

My thoughts below:

Ral, Storm Conduit is an all-star in Kalamax decks. For this deck, I positioned "copy effects" as enablers rather than the core mechanic that'd propel the deck to victory. Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix 's mana ability is the key.

Aetherflux Reservoir is a good suggestion. I may try it out later to see how it gels with the rest of the deck. Adding it to my Maybeboard this instant!

Prismite and gang are very important as they help convert the from Kydele to colored mana to keep my value engine running. Gemstone Array is already in my deck though.

Isochron Scepter pairs up nicely with Dramatic Reversal . However I do not run enough mana rocks for this combo to be consistent. Kydele would work with them too but in my play tests so far, the current untap spells would suffice without the need for Scepter.

Really appreciate the suggestions! Keep them coming if you come up with more awesome and wacky stuff... Cheers!

Cloudius on Krark + Kydele

Been brewing a new uncanny deck with Krark, the Thumbless and Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix as partner commanders.

So the general game plan is:

1) Summon Krark, the Thumbless and Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix .

2) Cast Draw/Wheel spells to build up the number of cards drawn in a turn.

3) Tap Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix for Loads of Generic Mana.

4) Continue drawing and wheeling using the additional mana from #3.

5) Untap Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix using cheap Untap (creature/permanent) spells.

6) Copy the draw/wheel/untap spells using Krark, the Thumbless , etc for extra value.

7) Go to #2 and Repeat till we assemble our combos and wincons.

Am brainstorming on possible finishers and wincons for the deck, at the moment I've big X burn spells (e.g. Comet Storm ) and Storm spells (e.g. Grapeshot , Ignite Memories ) on my list.

Would like to tap on the collective wisdom of the community:

1) Suggestions on possible cards that synergize well with the deck's theme and direction are welcome.

2) What other fun and unique victory lines can the above strategies support?

Look forward to hearing from you guys! Thank you.
