Hey, saw your forum topic asking for help.

Cards to consider adding that are within the budget here:

Fast mana is great with Krrik because you want quick to play him from the Command Zone. More the better; other ramp to consider adding that's within the budget:

Gravecrawler with Carrion Feeder and Aetherflux Reservoir is a combo to win the game with Reservoir. Feeder because it's a Zombie with Phyrexian mana lets you cast Gravecrawler from your graveyard for 2 life. These two without Reservior have other utility such as adding many counters to Krrik since each time you cast Gravecrawler from your graveyard. Extort ( Pontiff of Blight , Crypt Ghast ) is also good with this Zombie interaction.

Winter Orb because of Phyrexian mana affects you less than opponents. This is vile land disruption. Font of Agonies with Phyrexian mana which can power it both ways getting a lot of counters and letting you destroy a creature for , 2 life. This card can keep your opponents from having a lot creatures on the battlefield.

You're playing a lot of high mana cost creatures which makes fast reanimation ( Entomb , Reanimate ) powerful especially with Vilis and Razaketh. Might even want to consider expanding even more with reanimation. If choosing to attack with Krrik infect is vile. Glistening Oil can be nasty since when a +1/+1 counter is put on him it takes away the -1/-1 counter that Oil puts on him.

These suggested cuts are many cards that can gain you life. I don't think you need this many, it's kind of overkill. Pontiff of Blight , Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Kokusho, the Evening Star , Exquisite Blood and if you choose to add Aetherflux Reservoir are life gaining cards that can also be win conditions. Demon's Horn , Prism Ring , Deathgreeter , Whip of Erebos is a lot of additional cards for life gain. Fast mana is important, and it's missing here. I think it can improve your deck more than other cards that can gain you life. Good luck with your deck.

It's an alright synergy, but not an infinite combo by any means. There's a couple of things to take in here.

First, each instance of extort only triggers once, so you'd need to cast infinite spells in order to extort an infinite number of times.

Second, extort reads, "each opponent loses 1 life, and you gain that much life." This means you always gain life equal to the total amount of life lost by all your opponents combined. If you have two opponents you'll always gain 2 life per extort. If you have three opponents you'll gain 3 life per extort. Alhammarret's Archive 's purpose in this case would only serve useful if you have only one opponent.

Lastly, if you were to play a 1-vs-1 game where the extort ability would only gain you 1 life per instance, a better card to use would be Demon's Horn as it costs three less mana, and it would practically gain you 1 extra life off of all your spells anyway.

Delay specifically grants the spell suspend and gives it counters. When the last time counter is removed, it'll be cast again, triggering anything that looks for when spells are cast, and allowing different modes to be chosen. Additionally, Delay will trigger things like Baral, Chief of Compliance that look for spells being countered, while Ertai's Meddling doesn't actually counter the spell.

Let's say you're casting Golgari Charm , and have a Demon's Horn on the battlefield. When you cast Golgari Charm , you gain 1 life from the Horn, and choose "Destroy target enchantment."

If your opponent uses Ertai's Meddling on your Charm, with X=3, then you exile it with 3 delay counters on it. At the beginning of each of your upkeeps, you remove a delay counter, and when you remove the last, you move Golgari Charm back to the stack copying the previous choices made. You aren't casting it, so Demon's Horn doesn't trigger, and since it's copying the previous version, you can't choose one of the other two modes, only destroying a target enchantment.

Now let's say your opponent used Delay instead. It's countered, first off, so something like Baral will trigger. Second, it's exiled with three time counters and gains suspend. Again, you remove counters at the beginning of each of your upkeeps, and when the last is removed, you cast the spell without paying its mana cost. You can choose a new mode and/or new targets, and it will trigger Demon's Horn again.

If your spell was Bond of Agony instead of Golgari Charm , then Ertai's Meddling allows it back on the stack with whatever value of X you'd previously used. Delay , on the other hand, makes you cast it without paying its mana cost, which means X must be 0.

ShaperSavant totally agree with you on that. It's just a lot of your card choices feel 1vs1, like Cremate But I could be wrong ofcourse, you know how your deck works! I do like Prism Ring never seen that card. Might have to give Demon's Horn and the white version of it a chance as well :)

Is there a reason you run so few protection effects btw? Mother of Runes looks like the only "real" protection card to give Karlov a bit more evasion.

Is it me or are you a bit low on the lifegain side? I do like your take on trying to control the board through other cards than Karlov. But I feel, when looking at this list, you might have problems getting Karlov going consistently. I mean no tutors: Demonic Tutor , Vampiric Tutor , Ranger of Eos etc.

Also have you reconsidered Contemplation ? it does the same as the Demon's Horn but better. It is erratad to "Whenever you cast a spell"

Also: Auriok Champion , Blood Artist , Mother of Runes , Sword of Light and Shadow ? In my opinion auto includes to any Karlov deck.

When it comes to lifegain triggers, I play about 25 in my deck, wich often result in a 8/8 Karlov by turn 3.

If you're going to build a deck as cheap as $30, you're probably going to have to lean on a theme to make it functional. That can be supplemented with the fact that even mediocre demons and devils are good at not being coin-flipped away, but stuff like Dance with Devils wasn't even playable in Limited.

I see some reanimator stuff going on, so if you go that route, Torrent of Souls , Zombify , and Profane Command are all solid budget options. You'll want some graveyard stocking power to go with it. Mindwrack Demon , Extractor Demon , Archfiend of Ifnir , pull double duty. Cathartic Reunion , Dark Deal , Faithless Looting , Hazoret's Monument , Khorvath's Fury , Collective Defiance , Shattered Perception , and Tormenting Voice all fit the bill.

Also, Flayer of the Hatebound could power a nice subtheme with your reanimation, and you can stock up on cheap Undying creatures like Demonlord of Ashmouth , Hound of Griselbrand , and Pyreheart Wolf to lower your budget and synergize with Rakdos. Charmbreaker Devils could also be a house once you stock the yard.

Also, maybe improve general card quality by splurging on Bloodgift Demon and Demon of Wailing Agonies ? Demon's Horn , Carnage Altar , Rakdos Riteknife , Devils' Playground , Dance with Devils , Consume the Meek , and Rite of Belzenlok , Archdemon of Greed , Temple of the False God , Tomb of Urami , and Kindly Stranger  Flip are all pretty bad. Akoum Refuge and Bloodfell Caves seem like easy adds, as well.
