The Crowd Goes Wild Discussion

Gbeail on Hydra Feeding Frenzy

Corpsejack Menace and Primal Vigor are two more cards that double +1/+1 counters. Then there are some cards with x in the mana cost with good effects The Crowd Goes Wild, Nylea's Intervention, Green Sun's Zenith, and Finale of Devastation. That last one can easily win you the game. Then cards like Gyre Sage, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds and Marwyn, the Nurturer can generate tons of mana for those x mana costs.

Good call on Pull from Tomorrow over Mind Spring, I'll make that swap.

I really went back and forth as to whether to include both Green Sun's Zenith and Finale of Devastation due to the X cost factor you mentioned, but I ended up adding 3 powerful non-X cost hydras to take that into account. That said, as my options are so limited there I think replacing them is the right call. I want to keep the X spells count up so I may try Open Into Wonder and The Crowd Goes Wild for a couple of hefty surprises.

I wasn't drawn to the Doubling Season effect cards for 1 simple reason - the double tokens produced by Zaxara will enter as 0/0's and will fizzle. That said, they may be worth running for the additional +1/+1's, we'll see how well Hardened Scales performs and if I feel as though I want redundancy for that effect I'll look to add them.

Lastly, mana doublers. Yeah, probably a good idea for maximizing those X casts. I'm leaning toward Mana Reflection and Zendikar Resurgent.

Great ideas Manley1994, thank you - I'll be incorporating a few of these for sure.

Some potential cards. Most of these might be side-grades or out of budget but are worth noting in the Maybeboard. I have a few of these:

Creatures are obviously optimal, what with elf anthems and counters and stuff. I would try to squeeze in the first three if you can. The tempo of getting your commander down on turn 2 is amazing.

Fyndhorn Elves , Priest of Titania , Boreal Druid , Farhaven Elf , Leyline of Abundance , Castle Garenbrig , Llanowar Tribe , Overgrowth , Reap and Sow , Kodama's Reach , Explosive Vegetation , Nature's Lore , Ranger's Path , Skyshroud Claim , Grow from the Ashes , Emerald Medallion , Growing Rites of Itlimoc  Flip, Harrow , Circuitous Route

Rishkar's Expertise , Soul's Majesty , Mirror Shield , Zendikar Resurgent , Primal Rage , Heroic Intervention , Return to Nature , Overwhelming Stampede , Overrun , Beastmaster Ascension , Loxodon Warhammer , Colossal Majesty , Rancor , Vivien, Champion of the Wilds , Blossoming Defense , Withstand Death , Titanic Brawl , Ancient Animus , Momentous Fall , Nature's Claim , Once and Future , Regrowth , Wildest Dreams , Road of Return , Creeping Corrosion , Season of Growth , Blanchwood Armor , Sandwurm Convergence , Garruk, Primal Hunter , Vivien Reid , Vivien of the Arkbow , Ghost Quarter ,

Aspect of Mongoose is nice but prevents untapping shenanigans with your commander.

Some obvious out-of-budget stuff here and some lower-powered stuff too but I'll suggest them for posterity.

Llanowar Reborn , Karn's Bastion , Forge of Heroes , The Great Henge , Incubation Druid , Loyal Guardian , Tuskguard Captain , Pollenbright Druid , Solidarity of Heroes , Biogenic Upgrade , Durable Handicraft , Planewide Celebration , Courage in Crisis , Verdant Confluence , Bow of Nylea , Contagion Clasp , Contagion Engine , Hydra's Growth , Path of Discovery , Retreat to Kazandu , Forced Adaptation , Evolutionary Escalation , New Horizons , Nissa, Voice of Zendikar , Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter , Vivien, Arkbow Ranger , Kalonian Hydra , Arbor Armament , Stony Strength , Savage Summoning , Hunger of the Howlpack , Soul's Might , The Crowd Goes Wild , Armory of Iroas , Weapon Rack , Predatory Hunger , Primeval Bounty

I have a Drove of Elves I'm not using

I think I would cut Evolutionary Escalation for The Crowd Goes Wild because there's nothing stopping your from not putting any counters on their creatures (real rude move i know hahahaha). It's basically a better Thrive.

Joe_Ken_ on Assist cards in EDH, where …

So this is just a question for people and their game groups for what they think about the assist mechanic introduced in battlebond and if they have actually used it. In case some don’t know what I am talking about I am referring to cards like Game Plan , Out of Bounds , The Crowd Goes Wild , and Bring Down . I didn’t include the assist creatures since I imagine they won’t see any play.

The Crowd Goes Wild is a strictly better version of Thrive, but I find neither to be that good here.

Depending on what your budget range is for this, I recommend a couple things:

Rancor Is always good with these types of decks. Satyr Hoplite with a Rancor stuck on it turn 2 is a 4/2 trample that can swing that turn.

Assault Strobe is good, but this deck probably wants Temur Battle Rage instead.

Since it's a casual deck, Rogue's Passage is always good to get your big guys past some pesky blockers.

As budget removal that will also trigger heroic, you could use Prey Upon or Pounce, or even Savage Stomp if you want that +1/+1 counter.

I think since you have The Crowd Goes Wild, you don't need Thrive.

Travel Preparations is okay, but without the ability to flashback it, it's just not worth it.

Ranger's Guile is a good budget option to protect your creatures at instant speed and trigger heroic.

Hope any of this was helpful!
