Profet93- Thanks for the suggestions! I think I will absolutely swap out Grimoire of the Dead for Skirge Familiar. Grimoire realistically costs 5 mana anyway since you need to activate its ability, and I have both Greed and a Sheoldred, the Apocalypse to add some combo elements to the deck.

I do have a Blightsteel Colossus, but it's not as useful for anti-milling since it only shuffles itself back into my deck rather than my whole graveyard. Against an infinite mill combo, it means I would be left with 1 card in my library, so I'd better win the next turn or die via decking. It IS a great creature, although it's tough to reanimate. For that reason I'll likely leave Strands of Night in the deck, as it's one of the 4 cards that can reanimate at instant speed. I might swap Victimize in for Exhume, but I'm always worried I won't have a creature out that I want to sac. I'll need to test out that theory more though.

The Broodlord is by far the easiest cut to make from the Beef section, and I agree that Torgaar isn't that great either. I do worry about having enough lifegain in the deck, so I'm planning to replace those with a Scion of Draco to give my black creatures lifelink while still having a high-cost pitchable creature, and adding the Sheoldred would also help on that front.

Archon does so much for me in drawing cards, killing creatures/PWs, and gaining life that I find it hard to cut. If I do cut it, I'd also probably cut Unmarked Grave since they go somewhat hand-in-hand, but I'm hesitant to do so.

Dauthi Voidwalker is un-cuttable imo, just as a way to make my Living Death or Exhumes better if nothing else. If I add my Bringer of the Last Gift, then even moreso I need that sort of effect. As far as cutting something that doesn't fit the deck's strategy, Opposition Agent is in the discussion since it's just a generally good card, but it might be too good to cut. Thoughts?

Classic reanimator strats in pauper, love it. The only thing I can think of is maybe to run Muddle the Mixture in a couple of your countermagic slots, as it represents extra copies of Exhume, which seems to be your only means of reanimating and a bottleneck for the deck!

This is a stompy deck for sure. Setting a fast clock and beating ass with Troll / Gurmag is a great gameplan, especially against my favorite deck (Altar Tron). My big questions is how this matches up against something like Caw-Gates or Mono Red.

Caw-Gates might get their value from lands but the exile based removal and sea of counterspells might run you out of gas. Your deck has a lot of threats but they can chump with Sacred Cat or Squadron Hawk long enough to dig for an answer, and once they get Cat + Basilisk Gate online they can race any threat in your deck with lifelink. Maybe your plan is to side out the dark rituals and Duress until you find an opening? Exhume definitely favors your beefy monsters over their 1/1s but idk how easy it is to resolve.

Mon Red is just absurdly fast. Do you ritual out a blocker really fast and race them or...?

Thanks for posting legendofa, I hadn’t seen Bitter Reunion. It’s an interesting one. I’m going to add it to the maybeboard for playtesting, but I don’t know how I feel about it at a glance. The promise of haste is enticing and would solve one of the main issues with how the deck plays now-the wait between Exhume and being able to attack.

The problem is that if we’re operating at peak efficiency, there isn’t an extra to pay for haste the turn we cast Exhume. But without playtesting I can’t be sure. It may work better the majority of the time when we don’t have god hands.

Hey, andmike.

Thanks for the comment :)

I dont have any immediate ideas for a 150$ build, but I guess you could consider adding some black staples. There are also some pretty decent death trigger cards that I dont play. There is probably much more interesting ways to add to the deck than introducing more staples (and making the deck much more similar to everyone elses), but finding good original cards is a harder process :)

Death trigger cards: Grave Betrayal, Massacre Wurm, and Revel in Riches.

Black staples: Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, Cabal Stronghold, Vilis, Broker of Blood, Lightning Greaves, Skullclamp, Reanimate, Exhume, Dance of the Dead, Animate Dead, Necromancy, Grim Tutor, Bloodchief Ascension and Phyrexian Arena.

Best of luck!

I'm pretty sure the current best possible classic Reanimator deck in Pauper is . There's no Exhume, but after that the next good options, as least as far as I've found, are Late to Dinner and Breath of Life. Dark Ritual into Summon Undead is about as good as it gets in black.

I might run fewer/creatures, since stickfingers will until you reveal x creatures, not just x cards. The fewer you have the higher chance you hit one that destroys the table if you just overload on ramp and reanimates. Rather than these things Crawl from the Cellar,Ghoul's Feast,Gravepurge I'd focus on just reanimating and is easy to get and will probably serve you better. If you really do want it back in your hand Genesis Skullwinder and Eternal Witness do this while attached to a body.

Rather than sending to your hand these will just bring back Diregraf Rebirth, Victimize, Reanimate, Exhume, Unearth, Whisper, Blood Liturgist, Stitch Together,Dread Return.Geth, Lord of the Vault is expensive but can fill your yard as well as revive others. Finale of Devastation revives or tutors, and is a finisher.

Blossoming Wreath,Gnaw to the Bone probably heal less than lifelink, and there's a ton of ways to give lifelink.

Rampant Growth is slightly inferior to Three Visits and Nature's Lore as long as your dual lands have both typesOvergrown Tomb, Bayou, Woodland Chasm, although I'd definitely run all three if there's room. Culling Ritual would be an amazing ramp/wipe card you can use to nuke all tokens and then cast stickfingers. Sakura-Tribe Elder is just rampant growth that works as a blocker for one turn, and it is another creature in your graveyard. Lotus Cobra ramps too, particularly with your other ramp options.

And you'll likey have enough mana to use Decree of Pain, if not, other wipe options are Damnation,Pernicious Deed,Death Cloud,Deathbringer Regent,In Garruk's Wake,Killing Wave,Necromantic Selection,Plague Wind,Reiver Demon,Toxic Deluge. Torment of Hailfire works as a finisher too Endurance is basically the only way you can protect your graveyard that I can think of. I'd probably run Veil of Summer too.

Moodmark Painter gives the +x/+x buff and is on a body Garruk Relentless  Flip flips into Garruk, the Veil-Cursed, but its tricky to make this one work

Since you'll have access to really big creatures these can be nice for draw. Greater Good, Momentous Fall, Return of the Wildspeaker, Garruk, Primal Hunter, Morbid Curiosity, Life's Legacy, Disciple of Bolas, Doom Weaver, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds.

Mesmeric Orb,Stitcher's Supplier would be an amazing graveyard filler.

Zombie Infestation and Wild Mongrel is usefull for dumping creatures out of your hand

I think every single black deck should run Dauthi Voidwalker, and the more grave hate you have the more you could take advantage of Living End/Living Death if you use these as mass reanimates. they are the cheapest.

Life from the Loam and Bala Ged Recovery  Flip would be good helps for mana and options.

As long as you run Filth run Crop Rotation and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth too since it will make every creature you have unblockable.

Deathrite Shaman would benefit from more fetch lands Marsh Flats,Verdant Catacombs,Misty Rainforest would help mana fix as well as throw more lands into your graveyard.

You have a fairly high number of tutors, and a ton of ramp, so i'd consider Panglacial Wurm. It's a card you dont need to waste a draw to get and can be cast instant speed. And its fun to surprise people with it at least once.
