Maybeboard

Before Sidisi, my introduction to Sultai was with The Mimeoplasm . However, I didn't like the direct approach that it sought, and more to the point, it was too easy to shut down.

Sidisi is harder to slow down and generates so much more advantage. In addition, I saw the combo potential with Sidisi immediately, and have spent the better part of 2 years refining the deck, while holding true to my penchant of including dumb combos.

So, one of the first things you'll notice is that my cards are in specific categories, as opposed to the generic card type categories. This happened because my playgroup have recently started redesigning our decks to fit the 7x9 rule. In short, for maximum consistency, you run 7 cards that do the same thing across 9 categories of effects, leaving you with 36 lands. You'll also note that I'm running 45 lands, rather than 36. That is because I decided to alter the build to 6x9, so as to maximise the value The Gitrog Monster generates, as he acts as Sidisi's second in command.

Have I mentioned how much I love retuning this deck?

This time is different. Less jank, more proven cards. Average CMC has dropped from 3.24 to 2.62, which is phenomenal. The goal is no longer to dredge every turn, as it's more integral to the combos. In fact, Sidisi should only be cast now if you're about to combo off, or have an attrition engine online.
