I'm on a quest to build a cEDH deck that has the most possible synergy between support pieces, combo pieces, the generals, and the manabase. I based this list off of a few different decks from a few different formats:

  1. Primary inspiration: Cameron's LabManiac Ascendancy Brew and /u/Cryymlokk 's Ascendancy Brew

  2. Modern/Legacy Jeskai Ascendancy Lists

  3. Modern Paradoxical Outcome decks

The Core Engine:

This deck works like a lot of storm decks in cEDH - it wants to untap mana and cast a ton of spells in a single turn. The main way this deck wins is through Dramatic Reversal/Isochron Scepter, Jeskai Ascendancy, and Paradox Engine. With any of these on the board, our mana dorks and mana rocks tap and untap. You all know the drill.

Tolarian Academy:

Of course, the real Tolarian Academy is banned, because it's completely broken and utterly absurd. Storm the Vault is a worse version that still flips to a functional reprint of Tolarian Academy, and this deck is primed to abuse the excess mana. Untappers like Kiora's Follower, Voyaging Satyr, and Fatestitcher can generate obscene mana in a turn, powering out Thrasios activations or near-infinite mana.

Paradoxical Outcome:

With Paradox Engine or Jeskai Ascendancy on the field, we need to cast spells to win. Moxen and other mana-positive rocks have great synergy with return effects like Paradoxical Outcome, Hurkyl's Recall, and Leave, allowing you to push an insane storm count or trigger a swarm of untap effects to churn through the deck.

Winning the Game:

  • Make infinite mana with Dramatic Scepter and draw your deck with Thrasios

  • Use Banishing Knack or Retraction Helix to bounce your own stuff, and trigger infinite Prowess/Jeskai pumps and aggro the table

  • Nuke from Orbit with Aetherflux Reservoir

  • Nuke from Orbit with Walking Ballista

  • Draw out your opponents with Blue Sun's Zenith and infinite mana (or just a whole bunch!)

  • Inkmoth Nexus kill with Jeskai Ascendancy (aka "The Dream")

Card Choices and Synergies:

Generals:

Dorks:

Removal:

  • Retraction Helix / Banishing Knack- These serve as insane removal under an untap engine, and can also keep you churning through your combo by bouncing zero-cost artifacts.

  • Ancient Grudge / Memory's Journey- these are "live" from the GY with Flashback. Memory's Journey can shuffle your combo pieces back in or (more likely) disrupt opponent's GY's at instant speed... twice.

Other Synergies:

Thanks for looking, folks. I'm pretty proud of where I landed with this list, but I would love feedback. Let me know where I jumped off the deep end.
