Glimmerpoint Stag Discussion

Triton on Go Go Brago

I actually have a Brago deck that I built a while back, and happy to steer you towards it if you want! I like cards like Felidar Guardian and Glimmerpoint Stag a lot, because you can double the EtBs of your creatures. Also Knight-Captain of Eos is better than Attended Knight imo since more tokens. No Solemn Simulacrum? Also surprised that Swords to Plowshares isn't in the deck.

Also, if you want more infinite combos, mana rocks + Strionic Resonator create infinite Brago blinks if he lands because you can blink the resonator and rocks, then copy Brago's ability an infinite number of times.

Protecting Brago is very important too, and Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, and Whispersilk Cloak ensure he stays protected.

Hope this helps!

I really like the idea of the deck; +1. That being said, I have a couple of suggestions:

You should be running Flickerwisp over Glimmerpoint Stag

@dlamars

I had Man-o'-War in the deck originally, but replaced it with Rishadan Brigand, do you think I should redo the change?

Linvala, the Preserver Is amazing value! I'll find a spot for her.

I completely agree with Knight of the White Orchid for Kor Cartographer, I kinda forgot about that card back when I played Standard.

I haven't paid too much attention to the amount of creatures that could trigger Mentor of the Meek, but I'll consider him since I do feel as though this deck could use a bit more card draw.

Cataclysmic Gearhulk is really cool! I like the EtB, since I feel as though this deck could use a bit more boardwipes, will consider him in the 99.

I like Myr Battlesphere since while I agree it is quite spendy, as you mentioned, it does serve as a win condition by attacking with a bunch of Myr and burning your opponent for a ton of damage. Deadeye Navigator is a very powerful blink card, and I am quite hesitant to take him out. I do think Mistmeadow Witch is a tad too slow for this deck, I'll take her out for Glimmerpoint Stag. I think Call for Unity is good because when you blink creatures with counters on them, the counters disappear, so I think that giving up some speed for more synergy is fine.

Thanks for the suggestions and upvote!

Hey, I just tuned my first blink deck and I think I have a few solid suggestions keeping budget in mind:

Man-o'-War is great removal, alongside those you already have.

Linvala, the Preserver is an all star in my mardu flicker deck, if you can keep it from being removed it pays off big.

Knight of the White Orchid probably the best ramp option in white, I like Oreskos Explorer too and ultimately replaced Kor Cartographer for it in my deck since coming down on turn 2 it's much more relevant timing wise imo.

Mentor of the Meek is great for card advantage too.

I also like Cataclysmic Gearhulk though he's not always a great play, having the option to Cataclysm every turn can be useful.

Some cuts I'd consider are:Myr Battlesphere - bit too spendy.

Deadeye Navigator - feel like you're better off running something like Fiend Hunter since it pairs so well with brago, is on curve and adds a temporary removal option.

Kor Cartographer - just too much mana imo for a 2/2, ramping from 4 to 6 the next turn doesn't seem super relevant here.

Mistmeadow Witch - like the navigator I think another Glimmerpoint Stag like creature works better with brago.

Call for Unity - seems really slow to me, would be better off just going with Cathars' Crusade or even Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit I think.

Hopefully some of that is useful to you, I like the deck a lot. Good luck!

Polupus thanks! I was looking at Muddle the Mixture a while ago for the transmute ability, but I must have forgot about it. Thanks for bringing it up!

Glimmerpoint Stag alone doesn't look so great, but when you have the board locked and you can +2 Venser, the Sojourner each turn to flicker the Stag and tap the Sundial, it's pretty satisfying to permanently exile any permanent for essentially 1 mana. But it is definitely not a quick set up.

Weird and sick!

So great that you can activate sundial as a counterspell on your turn.

Muddle the Mixture would be a good tutor and protection for it.

Glimmerpoint Stag seems kind of meh, though. Why not just add more Eater of Days?

Since you have so many 4-drops, I would recommend Rattleclaw for now because it can produce different types of mana. Using Mystics won't accelerate your curve more or less (you drop a 4-drop turn 3 if you play a Mystic turn 1 or a Rattleclaw turn 2), so more colors wins this time. You might also be able to get rid of Brooding Saurian and Glimmerpoint Stag for some tutors or buffs to augment your big finishers.
