Sorcery (2)

Enchantment (1)

The idea of the deck is to cast a one mana instant or sorcery that guantees a Hypergenesis with our commander in play. Draw a bunch of cards off creatures entering, Put hypergenesis back in the deck and do it over again. With the right setup to the first hypergenesis you can spew out the entire deck in one turn and give them haste for the win.

Backup plans are to cast an omniscience or just do what simic does best and ramp to big dumb idiots like Ghalta or Portal

Card Choices:

Green Sun's Zenith + Dryad Arbor

A combo deemed to powerful for the early days of modern cast green suns for 0 get a one mana ramp spell green suns will be talked about later in this primer

Birds of Paradise Delighted Halfling Elvish Mystic Llanowar Elves

I went for early mana dorks because they work as cantrips for Soul of the Harvest they come out a turn earlier than two mana ramp spells, they can block if I need to buy time, and can contribute to attacks with Hoof

Badgermole Cub

Seems like a good choice here, works well with mana dorks and the dryad arbor if I happen to have one in the early turns

Tireless Provisioner Works excellent with fetch lands can enable a turn 4 cast of Quandrix on its own

Grim Monolith Mana Vault

Immensely powerful mana rocks that turbo out my commander by turn 4, replace with Lotus Cobra or Nissa, Resurgent Animist if the price tag is too steep

Gaea's Cradle + Crop Rotation

The best land for this deck works well with mana dorks and if I have an extra instant air sorcery crop rotation can put it into play directly

Ancient Tomb

Allows to cast my commander a turn early

Sol Ring

The best card in commander

This combo needs a six mana commander played early, a high density of high cmc creatures, a decent number of enambling one mana instants, that is a lot to find in the early turns so the best supplementation of this is to play early draw and tutors, this however leaves little room for interaction and protection so the all in combo route is what I went with.

Fierce Empath Formidable Speaker Shared Summons Worldly Tutor

All find something big in order to progress down combo lines these must find Creatures that draw a lot of cards look for Tishana or Zegana. If there is already a decent amount of draw power in hand Ghalta or Hullbreaker are excellent choices to find. Another important target is Woodland Bellower as this tutors Endurance directly into play

Overlord of the Floodpits Champion of Wits and Formidable Speaker allow for the discarding of hypergenesis to get it in the graveyard if drawn

The first two are paired with The One Ring Outcaster Trailblazer Keruga, the Macrosage for card draw before Quandrix is in play these spells are all need to be effective before and after the combo is in place

Sylvan Library is especially good here, playing this on turn two will be very strong to help insulate from drawing hypergenesis and help draw you towards everything you need to find at the cost of life.

There is one 0 mana spell in the deck, and (14) 1 mana spells making them all a guaranteed tutor and free cast of the 0 mana Hypergenesis with Quandrix, the Proof in play. I needed them to all be impactful outside of combining off and having more than this number will dilute the impact of casting hypergenesis. These slots can be whatever you want them to be, but I went for a variety of effects to handle different situations and used one of the creature slots on Spellseeker as well as one of the spell slots on Mystical Tutor to search for any one of them individually. It is important to not use these if you don’t have an additional one mana spells in hand, but multiples are ok to be used as you see fit most of the time

Counterspells don’t line up with the timing window for comboing which is during the first main phase, so although they do protect us they can’t be cast if our opponents haven’t played anything.

For searching for creatures with these spells I choose card:Worldy Tutor and Green Sun's Zenith you could add Sylvan Tutor if you want and cut one of the others I just found diminishing returns when you get past a certain amount of creature tutors.

A few of the slots should be allocated to putting hypergenesis back into the library once it hits the graveyard Noxious Revival and Reclaim, because they are instants allow for the ability to cast Quandrix hold priority then finish by casting either reclaim effect to cascade directly into hypergenesis. Stream of Thought was the only one mana spell that I could find that can put hypergenesis directly back into the library once it resolves, the two reclaim effects do need a target BEFORE casting.

card:Giraxian Probe costing 2 life sometimes allows a combo a turn ahead if we’re tapped out and needing to get things in play the info can be invaluable to check the blue players hand for counters and the white players hand for hate pieces for example, so it can be good to fire off if you have extra one mana spells in hand

Seismic Sense is great for digging for lands or big Bomby threats in the early turns

Brainstorm is excellent to pair with fetch lands and can get hypergenesis out of our hand

Boomerang Basics and Essence Flux are both great for getting an additional etb both work great with an Endurance already in play

Nature's Claim for problematic artifacts or enchantments Pongify for problematic creatures

Crop Rotation getting Gaea's Cradle is broken

Quandrix has no etb effect, so you maintain priority when it enters play. This is important to recognize because this allows for an uninterrupted window to cast a 1 mana spell and deploy the combo.

The end goal is to get Hullbreaker Horror and Peregrine Drake and a mana rock in play cast a spell to bounce one then play it bouncing the other over and over to generate infinite mana, next blow up all non creature permanents with Terastodon by repeating this loop. Do this process with Agent of Treachery to steal all creatures including the 3/3s you made with the opponents lands artifacts and enchantments, and finally Glacier Godmaw to give creatures haste for the win. We can also make infinite mana with Tireless Provisioner card:Kodoma, of the East Tree and Simic Growth Chamber. Omniscience is also infinite mana with regards to casting and replicating, so Stream of Thought can also mill our opponents

The etbs that are most impactful will be ones that draw a lot of cards like Regal Force, Prime Speaker Zegana, Tishana, Voice of Thunder, and Disciple of Freyalise  . Because hypergenesis is simultaneous entering all these effects count themselves and other creatures entering so they do in fact all “see” each other entering. There will be a lot of creatures and lands entering in large amounts so Soul of the Harvest, card:Aesi, Tyrant of gyre Straight and Tatyova, Benthic Druid will trigger off each of them.

Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant can spew out any additional creatures after all cards are drawn leading to some hilarious first round of casting the loop

Once all etbs have resolved a couple key cards in the deck like card:Endurace Conjurer's Bauble and Feldon's Cane allow you to put hypergenesis back into the deck cast another 1 mana spell that you hopefully drew and repeat the process until you draw your entire deck if needed. Endurance is easiest to find can be blinked, bounced and hard cast for 0 mana investment making it the best and most reliable of all these effects.

We use clones, blink effects and bounce effects to get multiple copies of the same etb. Glasspool Mimic   and Phantasmal Image are the clones here these can copy some of the splashier effects but also be used earlier on in the game if needed to speed up your clock. Displacer Kitten and Hullbreaker Horror can get multiple reuses out of any etb on the field each time through the combo and are an extremely potent effects here. card:Starfeild Vocalist doubling etbs is also extremely strong but be careful not to draw to aggressively with this in play you could draw too many cards and lose.

Our opponents are sure to put some big targets in to play we can steal the largest ones with Agent of Treachery, or Sower of Temptation. Roil Elemental can steal almost everything when coupled with enough lands. Portal to Phyrexia can also help twiddle down some of the creatures our opponents are putting into play, it can also be bounced, blinked or doubled with some of the other creatures in our deck.

If Omniscience hits the field we can in all likelihood stop the hypergenesis loop and just cast everything for free it can also be considered the backup wincon although the way we win is still the same.

The way Hypergenesis works is that ALL creatures enter simultaneously so static effects are going to take precedence, most cards that blow us out are symmetrical static effects on permanents an example of this is Containment Priest.

Hypergenesis is also risky, if a player at the table is playing an instant speed combo relying on activated abilities on creatures for example, they can also just play their combo too. Hypergenesis resolves in reverse turn order, meaning your etbs are also going to resolve last, sometimes you will just accidentally hand someone else the game.

This combo is also easy to counter, is affected by graveyard hate, draw hate, needs to cast multiple spells a turn and relies on its commander to survive to function, and is also incredibly risky, so it’s not the most consistent strategy around, that being said the deck is designed to at least be able to make a reasonable win attempt between turns 4-7 very consistently

This combo is also not deterministic whatsoever and can fizzle if you don’t draw enough cards from the previous cast. This all combines to put a ceiling on how powerful this deck can be made, that being said it is extremely satisfying to pull off and can lead to some of the most lopsided board states you’ll find.

If your style is more interaction focused I don’t think you’ll enjoy playing this list so it is not for everyone. But regardless I hoped you enjoyed reading this primer! Any comments or suggestions are always appreciated
