Maybeboard

A cEDH stax deck that slows down the game to create an environment where you can out-attrition your opponent using Mairsil both as a resilient value engine and combo piece. Having Mairsil as your key piece to all your plays greatly breaks parity to many stax pieces having to only cast one spell at most on your turns. Mairsil has the added advantage of being able to additionally utilize graveyard entombs, while also running Grafdigger's Cage (heyo!).

Main win-con is a Dread Return/Lab Man win using Mirror-Mad Phantasm. Mirror-Mad Phantasm is a one card combo. Relatively straight-forward:

  1. ( or ) Cast/blink Mairsil, caging Mirror-Mad

  2. () Activate Mirror-Mad's ability, attempting to search a non-existent Mirror-Mad in your library, flipping your deck.

  3. Narcomoeba trigger

  4. () Unearth Fatestitcher (Activate ability to +)

  5. () Cast Gravecrawler

  6. Flashback Dread Return, targetting Lab Man

  7. () Flashback Deep Analysis to win

Alternative win-con uses Tree of Perdition/Hateflayer. Takes longer to set-up, might consider taking out to slim down the deck more. Pretty self-explanatory.

Pros: Stax parity is very apparently one-sided as you play. The only spell you will play other than stax pieces or interaction is Mairsil. Afterwards, Mairsil is effectively his own hand of spells, slowly building up and only needing activated abilities.

Major cons of the deck: Many dead cards in the deck. Stitching together multiple pieces to make a resilient and value-generating Mairsil may take a long time, which is why the stax plan is needed. Unlike more casual variants, we slim down on all the more fun pieces to bolster the portion of the deck dedicated to stax. Despite this, we still need to pull 2+ pieces to make a reliably growing Mairsil.
