I based this deck on Justin Parnell's Chainer list from Commander VS, with changes over time. It's a big mana mono-black deck, of which there are many. Chainer is just such a sweet payoff for excess Cabal Coffers mana. You get to bring back all your opponents' best creatures as well as your own. It's really hard to lose if you don't lose your Coffers. The main way the deck loses is the speed honestly. It is a bit slow since black ramp isn't as fast, and sometimes the opening hands can be awkward. A few helpful insights about the deck:

• Gravebreaker Lamia is probably the best card, and I almost always tutor it with cards like Entomb and Buried Alive.
• Gray Merchant of Asphodel is the best win condition, as is typical of mono-black.
• Keeping hands without a tutor of some sort is pretty awkward, unless you already have everything you need. The deck is reliant on chaining tutors together to get the ball rolling. Fortunately there's quite a few of them.
• Never cast Chainer if you can't activate it the same turn or have a way to protect it.
• Block aggressively in the early game. Without a Grey Merchant your life total will vanish quite quickly, and you need to keep it high enough to repeatedly use Chainer to close games. You don't want to be taking chip shots.
