☠️ SEFRIS OF THE HIDDEN WAYS — COMPETITIVE EDH (cEDH) ️

⚔️ Graveyard. Dungeons. Infinite Loops. Victory. This is a fully optimized competitive EDH deck built around Sefris of the Hidden Ways — a dungeon-centric reanimator engine that becomes absolutely broken in a deck filled with discard outlets, infinite combos, and overwhelming value engines.

With fast mana, graveyard setup tools, dungeon loop tech, and win-on-the-spot combos, Sefris leverages the venture mechanic to cheat powerful creatures into play and reanimate bombs for free. The deck balances grindy advantage with sudden combo kills — all while staying flavorful with Dungeons & Dragons mechanics like Acererak, Ancient Dragons, and venture loops.

How Sefris Works

Sefris lets you:

Venture into the dungeon once per turn when a creature enters your graveyard.

Reanimate a creature for free whenever you complete a dungeon.

The deck is built to:

Trigger Sefris on every player’s turn, not just your own.

Complete dungeons quickly, usually Lost Mine of Phandelver or Tomb of Annihilation.

Loop dungeons infinitely to win via life drain, infinite ETB effects, or Thassa's Oracle.

Cheat massive threats like Jin-Gitaxias, Archon of Cruelty, or Ancient Silver Dragon into play without paying their costs.

Core Combos

Rooftop Storm + Acererak the Archlich = INFINITE VENTURE Rooftop Storm lets you cast Acererak (a Zombie) for free.

If you haven't completed Tomb of Annihilation, Acererak ventures and returns to your hand.

Repeat infinitely → Complete dungeons an unlimited number of times.

Choose Lost Mine of Phandelver:

Deal infinite damage/life drain (Trap room).

Draw your whole deck.

Make infinite treasures/tokens.

This is your primary win-con combo. Tutors can find both pieces:

Enlightened Tutor → Rooftop Storm

Demonic Tutor / Entomb → Acererak

Thassa’s Oracle + Tainted Pact / Demonic Consultation = INSTANT WIN Cast Thassa’s Oracle.

In response to its ETB trigger, cast Tainted Pact or Consultation, exiling your entire deck.

Oracle resolves: you win with zero cards in library.

This is a classic cEDH win line and serves as a backup plan if your dungeon loops are shut down.

Karmic Guide + Reveillark + Sac Outlet = INFINITE ETB/Death TRIGGERS Reanimate both using Sefris or a spell (e.g., Buried Alive into Reanimate).

Sacrifice Reveillark → triggers bring back Karmic Guide + another 2-power creature (even Guide itself).

Guide reanimates Reveillark → Repeat infinitely.

With Altar of Dementia, mill all opponents.

With Sefris on board and cards like Radiant Solar or Dungeon Crawler, this can lead to infinite venture too.

Dungeon Strategy

Preferred Dungeon: Lost Mine of Phandelver — 4 rooms, easy to loop, value in every step:

Room 3 (“Trap”) = drain 1 from each opponent → infinite life drain with Acererak loop.

Optional Dungeons: Tomb of Annihilation — fastest dungeon (3 rooms). Used to unlock Acererak staying in play if needed.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage — great long value dungeon if the game drags, but slow to finish.

Utility & Synergy Engines

Radiant Solar – Discard to venture instantly. Synergizes with Sefris and discard outlets.

Doom Whisperer – Surveil on demand at instant speed = great for graveyard setup + Sefris triggers.

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician – Sac outlet, discard outlet, card draw, proliferate. A graveyard all-star.

Troll of Khazad-dûm / Angel of the Ruins – Landcycling creatures. Discard → venture via Sefris → reanimate later.

Reassembling Skeleton – Recurs itself for cheap. Venture every turn cycle with sac outlets.

Smothering Tithe / Rhystic Study / Esper Sentinel – Staple draw and ramp engines.

Spellseeker – Tutors for key instants like Entomb, Consultation, or Vampiric Tutor.

Protecting Your Combos

Silence / Teferi’s Protection / Force of Will / Fierce Guardianship / Mana Drain

Used to protect the turn you combo off, or stop opponents’ wins.

Swan Song hits opposing win-cons, especially Oracle/Consultation decks.

Orcish Bowmasters punishes wheels or draw decks while giving blockers.

⚔️ Reanimation Targets

You’ll regularly cheat in:

Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur – Draw 7, opponents have max hand size 0.

Archon of Cruelty – Draw, drain, force sacrifice on ETB and attack.

Angel of Ruins – Exile two artifacts/enchantments + Plainscycle setup.

Ancient Silver Dragon – Draw 1–20 cards on hit.

Ashen Rider – Exile on ETB and death.

Sheoldred, Whispering One – Raise dead + opponents sac every upkeep.

Sun Titan – Bring back cheap engines and utility like Animate Dead, Hama Pashar, etc.

Notable Dungeon Synergies

Hama Pashar, Ruin Seeker – Double dungeon room effects. Broken with Lost Mine.

Dungeon Delver (Background) – Enchant your commander to also double room triggers.

Spark Double / Sakashima of a Thousand Faces – Copy Sefris = venture twice per turn, reanimate two creatures per dungeon completion.

How to Win

Loop Acererak + Rooftop Storm → infinite ventures → drain via Lost Mine Trap Room = win.

Oracle + Consultation/Pact → win with empty library.

Reveillark + Karmic Guide → infinite mill/life drain if Altar or Sefris is involved.

Dungeon value + Reanimation → eventually overwhelm with huge creatures and combat.
