Shamble Back Discussion

Yeah no problem at all! Kalitas is quite expensive for a budget version but is a good addition nonetheless. Viscera Seer is another good sac outlet. Vile Rebirth is also quite better than Shamble Back not to mention it's instant speed and not a sorcery which personally, in decks like this I try to avoid them as much as I can. You can also find alternative budget removal that can be proven to be just as good Ultimate Price , Go for the Throat , Terminate and Dismember are good candidates. I believe with a full playset of Priest of the Forgotten Gods and Falkenrath Aristocrat this deck has already received a major upgrade! Very cool deck! Keep it up!

I really want to get some Priest of the Forgotten Gods for the deck. I’ve considered Judith, the Scourge Diva and Cruel Celebrant but initially dismissed the life drain effect since I like be more aggressive with cards like Falkenrath Aristocrat . I’ll definitely look into getting a few copies of them both.
I thought about using Fatal Push , but for my playgroup meta Tragic Slip is going to more effective against my groups Dino and indestructible focused decks. Spark Harvest replaced Bone Splinters since my playgroup uses a lot of planeswalkers. Dreadbore could be good so I’ll keep an eye out for those as well. My main goal is to get two more copies of Falkenrath Aristocrat and focus on sacrificing the humans like Doomed Traveler and Hunted Witness . Seraph of the Scales is awesome, but is also out of my budget. I like having Martyr of Dusk just in case my opponent has a way around Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet ’s zombie engine and it’s saved me a few times. Same with Shamble Back but I am looking for a better alternative since I don’t always have a creature ready to exile for it.
Thank you for the recommendations!

Personally I would consider using 2 or 3 copies of Judith, the Scourge Diva and a playset of Priest of Forgotten Gods . If the budget is not an issue a playset of Bloodghast would work splendid in this deck, though you would need to rework your mana base with some fetches and shocklands.E.g Blood Crypt , Bloodstained Mire , Sacred Foundry and Arid Mesa . Perhaps 3 Seraph of the Scales instead of Hunted Witness and more copies of Cartel Aristocrat as your sac outlets. I would remove Shamble Back and Spark Harvest completely. I would use 3 Fatal Push and 2 Dreadbore instead as a removal package. In place of Utter End and Raise the Alarm I would use playset of Cruel Celebrant or Blood Artist as the main drain engine of the deck. I would also run Tithe Taker in place of Martyr of Dusk . As for the sideboard 2 copies of Grafdigger's Cage for graveyard hate, 2 copies Vandalblast for artifact hate, Bedevil and an extra copy of Anguished Unmaking

Okay, the easyest ways to upgrade this deck are:
This frees up fourteen slots.
To fill them I would add:
4x Undead Augur
Other (expensive) options:
Gravecrawler is great, but after it spiked, it might be a little to expensive. If you ever do add Gravecrawler , Carrion Feeder is insane. Tidehollow Sculler is one of the best zombies, but without expensive lands, it might not be the right fit.
Thoughtseize : Although you probably don't want to play Inquisition, Sculler and Thoughtseize , they are all good cards. Blood Moon compleatly shuts down some decks, while mostly leaving red decks intact. Leyline of the Void is A+ Sideboard Material, and is always a good cards to play in the 15.
Bloodstained Mire , Polluted Delta , Blackcleave Cliffs and Blood Crypt are all staples of R/B manabases, because of the fetchlands ability to fetch Blood Crypt . Because of this, they are at a crazy price right now, but they are the best.

Sideboard: Keep your Shamble Back - it will be clutch against Siege Rhino . Keep Tainted Remedy as well. Move Relentless Dead to the mainboard or cut it completely. Cut everything else unless you really want to mainboard something. Add 1-2x Ghost Quarter , (great against Tron) 1-2x Pithing Needle (Will be helpful against planeswalkers and some artifacts (think Expedition Map !) and some enchantments (think Freed from the Real !), 1-2x Ratchet Bomb (Another way to get rid of nasty enchantments and artifacts), 1x Elixir of Immortality (life gain and anti-Turbo Fog/Mill), 2-3xGrey Merchant of Asphodel would probably be effective lifegain in the sideboard.
Probably a board wipe of some kind would be good in the sideboard. Bontu's Last Reckoning is what I'd suggest, but there are lots of other options here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mh-board-wipe/ Killing Wave might also work. Smallpox could be decent, too, provided you can sac and discard zombies you can cast from the graveyard. If you do add some Smallpox, you'll probably want to add 3 lands, maybe even 4.

I was thinking about the concept and got to the conclusion that Jace's Phantasm will most likely work in tempo deck, since phantasm costs . I don't see it as much as card for control deck because when is your control online you might play better threats.
Tempo deck is about denying your opponent resources and Soaring Show-Off does the opposite in form of cards (even in the best scenario when you could chose which card your opponent will not have) is not worth it, you just gave him 1 card. But if you want to play the deck as pure control, then it is probably playable since you can control well enough what is in your opponents hand.
Another way how to make discard more viable is Wight of Precinct Six since the more stuff ends up in bin the bigger (likely) this become and you can play it in control.
Previously I used Shriekgeist but now I think that Mind Sculpt might be better because it is more effective even if it is by your words more "boring". I build a mono blue deck for this simply because 1 color works better for tempo: Mono Phantast.
Sage's Row Denizen: I would switch/combine with Ink Dissolver and played it as aggro (a lot of creatures) and build on the wizard/merfolk tribe. Not sure how it will perform since you would not control the game much and mill takes a lot of time to work.
About Vile Rebirth and Beckon Apparition it might work in deck build around Thoughtpicker Witch. The trick is that you control the top of opponent's library. I tried it before and it didn't work but maybe there is a way how to make it work. Also I would include Shamble Back since it does the same as Vile Rebirth but for the loss of instant speed you gain 2 life.
Hope we get to some spicy deck.

My initial thoughts were that the deck is trying to go wide, so the more zombie lords the better. Grimgrin is a good card with the sacrifice gravecrawler combo but hurts the general go wide theme of zombies. His ability is very cool though.
Another Liliana would help the Prized Amalgam activate if you added it but then i think you'd need some more low drop creatures with "play from graveyard" abilities that are also zombies.
I'd stick with the "go wide". lots of small zombies and lots of zombie lords to buff them and the control you already have plus maybe Shamble Back for midgame board advantage.
