Shamble Back Discussion

Thanks for the comments people!

LithiumHD and JararoNatsu both of you had the same great idea, if I want to work with Westvale Abbey  Flip I should put in faster token generators and take out the graveyard. A previous incarnation of this deck actually ran Cemetery Recruitment and Contingency Plan, but even I realized they weren't working in the deck. I also had Compelling Deterrence in here, but I took it out for a silly reason. So I need to take out things like Ever After and Gisa and Geralf, as well as Prized Amalgam, Haunted Dead, and Geralf's Masterpiece.

I think I will replace some of these slots with Shamble Back, From Under the Floorboards, and Voldaren Pariah  Flip.

Yet Jared, I was going for a standard deck, and not much of a modern deck. I will want to bring this to a FNM eventually, but I will look to your fantastic deck as a model for a modern Zombies.

SgtxVortex yeah I need those Fatal Push because Murder is way too precious to me and I feel like I have to leave too much mana up where as the push helps me stay defensive with only a little mana up. As for Grasp of Darkness, it is good and I would have liked to have remembered it sooner, Zendikar is rotating out at the end of the month =(.

I would encourage you to take a look at my deck: B/U Zombie Tokens. In it, I have all of my Zombie creature cards serve as either Lords or token generators, and my instants/sorceries are control and token generators. Most of the deck is at CMC 2 and 3, allowing me to have a relatively early board presence, and that is currently what your deck is missing.

Your deck currently seems like a mix of creating Zombie tokens as well as pulling creatures out of the graveyard, and those two things don't always work well together (since tokens don't go into the graveyard). Consider focusing on one, otherwise your deck loses potential by trying to do two things at once. LithiumHD is correct in saying that Noosegraf Mob is not helping you here and will take way too long to get onto the board.

If you want to pull off the transformation of Westvale Abbey  Flip, you're going to need to get tokens out much quicker than your deck is currently capable of doing. There are plenty of low-CMC token generator such as Shamble Back, so take a look and see what you can find. Otherwise there are several cards here that aren't going to help you get tokens out or keep them alive until you can sacrifice them. Cryptbreaker is really the only creature you have that will get you any tokens and even then you have to discard, so maybe throw in some From Under the Floorboards to take advantage of that discard.

Also, you mentioned that you have a concern over removing threats. Allow me to introduce you to Compelling Deterrence.

If you're going to want to take advantage of Rise from the Tides, you're going to need more instants and sorceries. Having some early-game control using instants/sorceries, as well as token generators, allows you to keep threats away while you build your board, and then if you want to work your way up to Westvale Abbey  Flip, you may do so.

Sorry if this was a bit long, but I hope it helps!

Both Corpse Churn and Shamble Back might be solid additions to the deck. Shamble Back has sooooo much value for just a single !

Cool deck. Good luck with it! +1 from me!

Hy HurricaneZach, thanks a lot for your suggestion and for your upvote. I think you are right about Disfigure and Tragic Slip, thanks for the suggestion. I also like Shamble Back, but I use this deck also against non-paupers, and in that case I find it more useful to have an istant istead of a sorcery (maybe with an opponent Graveborn deck or one like that). I will put it in the Maybeboard anyway, thanks once again!

I would run with 3xDisfigure and 3xTragic Slip. It seems that you could turn the Morbid trigger on more often than not and Tragic Slip handles the Ulamog's Crushers and Gurmag Anglers for only 1 mana. Also, I like Shamble Back instead of Vile Rebirth. Sorcery speed but it gains the 2 life that can be relevant in close matchups.

Shamble Back isn't such a good card but you are going to need more creatures if you remove this one.

Borrowed Malevolence is indeed a good choice for replacement.

thanks ghoul_Legion, I've not seen one at all before... lol.I considered the Grasp of Darkness and Ruinous Path but couldn't decide what to remove. What do you think they should replace? Borrowed Malevolence is probably a front runner for replacement, and (possibly) Shamble Back.

Maybe Shamble Back? Looks like it could do well here.
