I play EDH to have fun. And what's fun in EDH? Doing cool stuff. I'm pretty sure we all like to do cool stuff in this format, it's why we play it. Standard, Modern and really any other format don't really lend themselves to the crazy stuff you can just pull in Commander. And I'm also someone who likes to see the crazy things my opponents can do with their decks. So I developed this one here.

Catalyst runs on the Rule of Cool. By which I mean it runs a ton of high impact cards and a myriad of ways to cheat them into play. Most of the effects that cheat cards into play though are symmetrical. This is fully intentional. The statement of this deck is essentially "Everyone is going to do cool stuff in this game and if I win it's because I just pulled off the craziest stunt." That's no exaggeration. On one occasion I had an unblockable Blightsteel Colossus on turn four. On another I got out both Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Novablast Wurm at the same time and boardwiped every turn. My favorite though is that I accidentally created an infinite combo.

Deadeye Navigator and Gilded Lotus just happened to be in my deck. And when combined with the commander Derevi, Empyrial Tactician, they make infinite colored mana. Which I then proceeded to use to Genesis Wave for 60. That has to be my favorite moment with this deck hands down.

This isn't a deck for someone who wants to be super competitive and win every time. This also isn't a deck for someone who's only interested in their own deck and doesn't really care what their opponent is running. But if you're someone who wants to play an exciting game of Commander where everyone is on their toes and nothing is truly certain, or if you just want to have fun and don't care about the end result, then this deck might be for you.
