Uktabi Wildcats

Creature — Cat

Uktabi Wildcats's power and toughness are each equal to the number of Forests you control.

(Green), Sacrifice a Forest: Regenerate Uktabi Wildcats.

With regards to cuts, you can cut more than I'm recommending, but I figure I'd start it off

Seeker of Skybreak - Does nothing by itself

Skyshroud Ranger - Bad without lands

Spearbreaker Behemoth - Doesnt stop sac, exile, board wipes for your elves, etc... It's nice to give your commander indestructible, but I would rather just have Darksteel Plate

Sylvan Messenger - Eh, I just don't personally like it. Can whif, put important cards away, only hits elves. Just an eh card for me

Taunting Elf - Bad

Uktabi Wildcats - Even worse

NV_1980 thank you both for the advise. I found 3 more cats in Adorned Pouncer , and Zarichi Tiger but I'm not sure if i have enough forests to make Uktabi Wildcats worth it.

now just looking for cat themed removal if there is any.

Hi foxes101,

Do you have a specific budget in mind, Under $40, Under $50?

I do have a $50 budget Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist which is a cat-only tribal deck, Mirri, Little Kid Aggro $50 EDH. Might find some interesting budget ideas in there.

I also have a non-budget Arahbo, Roar of the World, it's still a work-in-process, Arahbo, Xenagos... for Cats EDH

Riptide Replicator seems really awful, it requires for a cat, so your hoping it's at least 5/5 or more, which means the initial cost is =5 + = . That's a terrible conversion. I understand you want to build your board position since your cats pump each other, but Riptide Replicator is not the way to go.

Stir the Pride is way too high a CMC for it's modular (or Entwine) abilities. I would take that one out.

Bloodline Shaman I assume is trying to help the draw, which in turn kind-of helps the Bonehoard as well, so let's go with that for now, but is an Elf, not a cat. Creative budget drawing at least.

Qasali Slingers is a nice control for Artifacts and Enchantments, plus hes a 3/5 reach.

Balan, Wandering Knight might consider, but with only 13 equipment targets, understand why he's not in there.

Jazal Goldmane might be a bit better, because he's 4/4 first strike, but he can pump all the horde of cats.

Beastmaster Ascension feels like 100% necessary in this, to pump all your 1/1 token cats. I think this will be a primary goal for winning in this budget format.

Hunter's Insight is a better draw then some of the "janky" draw mechanics in budget, to a lesser degreeSoul's Majesty / Hunter's Prowess also work but are Sorcery and susceptible to instant removal.

Skyhunter Skirmisher has build in evasion and double strike (cat) if you can get him an Equipment or 2. Rancor?

Crown of Vigor is not every exciting a 1-shot +1/+1, with a static +1/+1 for 1 creature, not fantastic.

Mask of Memory might help with the draw as well.

Hungry Lynx, originally I thought this guy would be amazing, but all he does is create problems (deathtouch rats), and I've never had him successfully pump my cats before being removed. I took him out, mechanic didn't work.

Uktabi Wildcats, this guy only worthwhile if you have 5 Forest, remember, Tranquil Expanse / Selesnya Sanctuary are not forest unless they say "Forest" on them, so with a max size of 11, he's rarely going to be a 5, so no other abilities, not worth the CMC .

Do you not find you get board-wiped and that is the end? I would run at least a couple protections, like Make a Stand or Rootborn Defenses or Dusk (recur all power 2 - 19 targets right now).

Soul Snare is another janky type Condemn, always Oblivion Ring.

Whitemane Lion combos infinite with lost of , but enablers might not work in the budget. There is Infinite creature (several) enablers, Infinite Ramp enablers, etc. Him and Fleetfoot Panther run the show. Could be an interesting way to get some combo going, not sure how combos are viewed in your budget pod.

Lost Leonin can also put some infect pressure on people, but without support (like Silverblade Paladin/Ajani, Caller of the Pride/that white enchantment that gives 1 creature double strike/etc to make him a single hit kill. He's still a 2 hit-Eminence win-con though. Unless no infect allowed, he will eliminate players just with Eminence on occasion. If you can Grappling Hook him or enable doublestrike elsewise (like Raksha Golden Cub). Often he comes out early enough. It's my initial strategy in my Arahbo, Roar of the World but I use mass-creature tutor.

+1.

Fellow Arahbo, Roar of the World player, Arahbo, Xenagos... for Cats

Noticed you pulled Alms Collector out, he has been invaluable for me fighting Grixis () commander's like Kess, Dissident Mage / Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge for Enter the Infinite, and Izzet () like Mizzix of the Izmagnus Infinite Mana Blue Sun's Zenith decks.

Qasali Pridemage > Felidar Cub. I know he has a cost, which sucks, however, the Exalted is a nice boost, it's contradictory to your Beastmaster Ascension strategy, so I kind of understand, but I would worry about over-committing with no protection / counterspell.

Nature's Lore or Three Visits > Rampant Growth. Can pull the Savannah or Forest and doesn't enter tapped. So the CMC for Nature's Lore is only .

Keen Sense feels like over-committing on a creature and a 2-for-1 loss in an exchange. Plus it only draws you 1 card, AND the creature has to deal damage to an opponent. I wouldn't run that, I'd rather have haste from a Swiftfoot Boots over that.

Uktabi Wildcats is to high CMC for how big he's going to be CMC5 for 5/5 is reasonable, and his ability isn't that great, plus sac a forest (means he gets smaller) and doesn't protect him from exile. You only have 14 forest so need 35% of your forest just to be so-so. Perhaps if your game plan was to Traverse the Outlands into him, it would be ok, but not in the current build. Put in some aggro, "must be answered", like a Lost Leonin.

Riparian Tiger CMC5 for a 4/4 Trample seems wrong, if you have other energy cards, maybe I'd be happier with a Pride of Lions at that CMC and doesn't need the Trample.

Triumph of the Hordes could work well for you with so many creatures. Excellent with Adorned Pouncer or a Skyhunter Skirmisher

I don't like the CMC on Harmonize, would rather Hunter's Insight on an Eminence Cat.

You have lots of High CMC, I would rather tutor for the cat I want with things like Eladamri's Call than have 4 CMC6 cats for example, just have 2 CMC6 cats and 2 tutors to get them. But preference I guess.

Anyways hope you found something here useful! Cheers +1

Blanchwood Armor could be a good way to go Voltron with a creature and wreck someone. Dungrove Elder can also get huge fast with this deck, so can Kalonian Twingrove and Uktabi Wildcats.

Gaea's Touch can help you get more of your land on the battlefield fast. Horn of Greed can help you replace land you've played with more, just keep in mind that it is only land you 'play,' not 'put on the battlefield.' So it wouldn't combo directly with Gaea's Touch, but it will with any other land drops.

Azusa, Lost but Seeking can also help you play more lands in a single turn.

Genesis Wave can make your boardstate swell at almost any point in the game, but works best when used once your ramp is petering out. Patron of the Orochi also lets you untap all your Forests and green creatures once a turn (even on your opponent's turn.)

Traproot Kami has very inexpensive CMC, and can prove to be a very good blocker for you at any point in the game.

Firstly, I want to thank you for putting so much legitimate thought into the suggestions I've offered! I really appreciate the different thought processes behind a few of them!

Secondly, I completely understand the "pet cards" thing! (I have a whole set of them in Nissa's Lands. I have all 7 of the x/x for lands Allosaurus Rider,Dauntless Dourbark,Dungrove Elder,Kalonian Twingrove,Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer,Uktabi Wildcats, and Ulvenwald Hydra in there lol). So appologies to Brittle Effigy for the prior insult CX

Thirdly, I've had huge conversations about what I could do with a 150 card deck, and it really makes me sad that I can't! I'd run 70 basics and still not have enough cards in the deck!

Lastly, I can get behind pretty much all of your counter-arguments! They're well worded and well thought through! And it really all does come down to play groups. My guys rarely run force sac., but almost always do hexproof and indestructible, so Bonds of Mortality works better for me (also, card draw :D) They also like their artifacts, so a Krosan Grip split seconded between a Sharuum the Hegemon infinite combo, or Teferi's Puzzle Box + Leovold, Emissary of Trest for three mana? Yes, please!

I can get behind the Arcane Lighthouse. That's all good, because it has a large impact on the game overall (which is pretty rare for lands). Mosswort Bridge is a personal thing. I've "hideaway"ed too many good things to the bottom of my library that I could've just drawn and cast with my obscene ammounts of mana. so I'm not gonna fight for that one either. I also haven't snow-covered my lands yet, so I don't have experience with Scrying Sheets or the Mouth, but my strategy has always been to get my lands out of my deck so they're not in the way, and I can just draw good things to put my mana into. Once that happens, Scrying Sheets is useless, and the Mouth is just so bland. sure, its a land that can do damage, but it's so much mana, and such a gimmicky ability, that I just cant get behind it. Maybe with a Crucible of Worlds, I can see it having real use, but then I'd rather have a Strip Mine. If it works for you though, more power to it!

Now for the High Market.. lol.. It's definitely a great backup plan for self-removing omnath (or something), and you've got some means to get him back out that turn, but overall, it doesn't do enough during normal gameplay. I would totally sac a big omnath to Miren, the Moaning Well then re-cast him strictly for the life gain. same with Momentous Fall. It all goes into the balance of abilities. You can clearly make very much mana, so the useful sacrifice and flash go higher up on the list. I think I'd suggest replacing High Market and Frontier Siege for Momentous Fall and Vedalken Orrery. Spearbreaker Behemoth might be a nice place to put Soul of New Phyrexia, because its only more to make all permanents indestructible instead of one other power 5+ creature. Regal Behemoth could be a nice alternative to Vorinclex, because it doesn't drop the stax and it theoretically gives people the chance to grab the monarchy from you, which could still give you the extra mana without upsetting other players quite so much XD. I',m having the same problem with my Vorinclex, believe it or not lol.

Also, how attached are you to Hornet Queen, Hydra Omnivore, Mossbridge Troll, and Platinum Angel?

Got rid of Uktabi Wildcats in favour of Kalonian Twingrove. Elvish Pioneer was only ever useful on turn 1 so changed to Traproot Kami to combat flying. Sylvan Ranger is same cost as Sylvan Scrying but with a bonus creature to defend with so I swapped him in, which gives another useful combo with Temur Sabertooth. Having 4 +x/+x enchants was good. Having 3 enchants and 3 instants is more versatile, can be done to the same creature, gives a choice based on available mana, just generally works nicer. Skyshroud Claim in there just once gives a chance of a speed boost.
