An Izzet deck built around Fuel for the Cause: Counter-spells and proliferate. The goals are to get goblins with +1/+1 counters out, and protect them with counterspells and return to hand cards. The commander, Mizzix of the Izmagnus, creates experience counters on the player which can be proliferated. This quickly leads to very discounted instants and sorceries. Therefore, a higher amount of card draw is needed to replenish them. Casting the instant and sorceries causes the experience counters to grow. Also, many have proliferate effects which simultaneously buffs the goblins and increases the experience counters.

A goblin & phyrexian subtheme since the commander is a goblin, and proliferate needs creatures with tokens on them.

Win cons are Red Sun's Zenith,Mindswipe, Fanning the Flames and Demonfire cast for a high amount of damage due to the discounted cost. Goblins with many proliferated +1/+1 counters can also help clsoe out games.

Notes:

• Instants and Sorceries with "X" in the cost are useful because they can be reduced in cost by Mizzix of the Izmagnus's second ability, while increasing the experience counters with his first ability. For example if there are 4 experience counters, then Red Sun's Zenith can be cast by paying 1 red, and the experience will increase to 5 because the "cost" to cast was 5.

• Returning opponent's permanents to hand is useful when a threat gets played when no mana is available to counter it. It can be countered later when the mana is available.

• Casting a spell happens before a spell resolves. So experience counters can be created by casting, then proliferated by the same spell resolving.
