Technically, my first commander deck was Experiment Kraj but the deck was awful and unfocused and basically just simic goodstuff. I built it when I was still pretty young and one of my playgroups had just discovered commander/EDH. My next try at a commander deck was Trostani, Selesnya's Voice. I basically took out all the blue cards from my kraj deck and added in some white cards and made an okay lifegain deck. Lifegain has always been my favorite archetype to play, even since my days of casual magic, before I'd ever heard of commander.

I wanted to make a new, better Trostani deck than the one I made as a kid and I'm liking the results with this deck so far. Believe it or not, the mana curve of this deck is much smoother than the original.

I'm trying to focus this deck more on lifegain than tokens, but I want to have a decent amount of big tokens as a back up strategy, with cards like Desolation Twin and Phyrexian Processor. I also want this deck to remain casual and fun but focused enough to win occasionally.

The key to gaining a lot of life in a game is setting up a lot of small instances of lifegain throughout the game. Our Soul sisters do much of the heavy lifting. Soul Warden and Essence Warden and Soul's Attendant are the original three, but Suture Priest and Daxos, Blessed by the Sun also give us similar effects. Lastly, our commander themselves has a similar effect, but usually gains us more life per trigger than the average soul sister.

One thing I think the deck may lack is enough card draw. I've added Return of the Wildspeaker and Rishkar's Expertise to help supplement the card draw, but I worry that, while these cards have the potential to draw a lot of cards, they are board-dependent and also not repeatable effects. Mind's Eye is not great but gets the job done.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
